Horror 'The Last of Us' HBO Series

Bella and Pedro both level'd up in this episode... and honestly Joel/Ellie dynamic is tremendous. The way she makes fun of him, imitates him, and truly loves him.
They’ve built up the relationship between them so well and it just keeps getting better. Bodes very well for future episodes. The whole show is also due to level up given many events yet to come. The first game content that breaks the curse and is decent aims right for the top!

If nobody told you this came from a game you wouldn't know it. :)

That would be awesome if they did that, but I can see them showing it at the very end of the next episode.
I could see it going that way too only because
Ellie looking for supplies in the abandoned mall for Joel ties in with her flashback with Riley in the Left Behind DLC. But they can also leave that part out entirely.

Something else I thought of in regards to Tommy.

Maria being pregnant is an interesting creative choice. It's something that doesn't happen in the game and this change for the show really makes me think about how this would affect Tommy during the events of Part II. If all goes well and they don't lose the baby and Tommy is a father in season 2 after the time jump then this might totally shift his perspective about his desire for revenge. Would he still be so willing to potentially throw his life away? It's a really intriguing aspect that I'm sure will be revisited in season 2 because it's unlikely we'll actually see Tommy or Maria again in the finale unless they expand on the game ending and take us back into Jackson.

This may have been my favorite episode yet, in some quite strong competition. The acting is phenomenal from the two leads and it helps the show rise above the game, which was a task so hard that one couldn't expect it beforehand. Everything just clicks from the touching bonding moments, to the levity between them, all the way down to the sad and hurtful moments driven by their fears. Pedro is a full-fledged star now and it will be interesting to see where Bella goes from here. The pacing of the show has also worked very well and I now feel entirely sure I will be content with 9 episodes to tell the story. The show's visuals also keep delivering and this was probably also my favorite episode from a cinematography standpoint.

Special mention to the old couple at the beginning. They didn't have much screen time but they made themselves memorable right away.

I first saw Pedro Pascal in Game of Thrones and he's been a star for me ever since. :D

Graham Greene — fairly well known native/Canadian actor; Academy Award nominated for Dances With Wolves. Elaine Miles — haven't seen her in a while. But she was a regular on Northern Exposure.

Good to know, thanks for that. Loved those 2. :D

Loved Northern Exposure!

Too bad he wasn't in it very long. :(
I agree but on the other hand maybe it's not such a bad thing since almost everyone who crosses paths with Joel and Ellie end up dead. Maybe it was for the best they went on their way as quick as possible. :o

I see where I wasn't clear, but by "old couple" I was referring to the characters (combining the writing and the acting as memorable). I did know the actors from before, although I only remembered Graham's name.

Yes, it's the same for me. I wasn't talking from a personal standpoint though but rather how their career statuses are. Pedro is established at a high level and will be in high demand, while Bella will be interesting to follow to see what work she continues to get, as she clearly has the talent.

This show will be a great jumping off point for her, she has to be getting calls now from all over for jobs because she's so good.

I honestly couldn't be happier for Pedro Pascal right now since I've been a fan of his ever since I first saw him in Narcos and knew then he would go on to do great things from there. He deserves all the success in the world, and I absolutely can't wait for Mando Season 3 either coming hot off the heels of TLOU.
