I don’t think that’s as much of an issue as you’re making it out to be (no offense). Most of the characters from the video game era that Link originated in didn’t have personalities. Mario didn’t back then. Samus Aran didn’t (hell, you didn’t even realize she was female until the very end). Simon and Trevor Belmont didn’t. And at least in the case of that last example, the Castlevania Netflix series proved that a personality could be crafted for him that really works and resonates with people.

    Well said.

All I know that a LOZ movie done right has unlimited potential.

Agreed. I’ve been dreaming of one since I was 8 years old.

If they get the right director, VFX team and actors, it could be amazing. Just imagining the visuals gets me stoked.

Everything gets me stoked.... the visuals, the score, the story.

No it's fan made. I wish it was made though. I've always supported Studio Ghibli Zelda film.

Oh I knew it was fan made, I just thought maybe a full movie could have been released. It was magical.

If they could make a short in that style I would love to see it.

The main theme for Breath of the Wild reminds me of a Ghibli film.

Mackenyu from Pacific Rim Uprising would be an amazing Breath of the Wild era Link

As an Ocarina of Time fan, I've got to go with Timothee Chalamet.

I'd like a Wind Waker film animated by Pixar.

That would be cute. Wind waker might be possibly the hardest story to start with though potentially?

I just don't care about Wind Waker. I never liked that art style.

I think the problem with any Legend of Zelda movie is the audience won't have any type of agency anymore. Legend of Zelda empowers players to become Link, to become the Hero of Time. People became engrossed in the original game because you start it up and it's quite simple. YOU ARE LINK! You aren't watching someone else's adventure. You aren't reading it. You are creating the adventure. You are making it happen.

So we've had this franchise that's lasted over three decades. Sold millions upon millions of copies. Captured the hearts and minds of fans all across the globe. It's a spanning epic fantasy saga, all from a video game series. My point is, Zelda has never really needed a movie before to tell its story. The games are the bread and butter.

The show's one foray into an animated TV series has become a derided joke. Case in point.

My cousins loved playing this game on SNEs back in the 90s. I could never get into it. I tried recently on the new SNES mini and still couldn’t get through it! LOL ‍♂️ I agree a animated series in the style of Netflix’s Castlevania probably would be better.

I'm not that familar with Zelda except for that game. The sense of adventure when sailing on the open seas was so exciting for me. I really liked the use of cel shading in that game too. It's a shame more games today don't use that kind of art direction.
I think that's the main problem with video games movies in general and why they always fail. That sense of being in the shoes of the protagionst is lost with a film whereas with a game you feel more deeply connected to the character and story.
