I believe it's long overdue. It combines aspects of futuristic things, superheroes, and Superman all rolled into one. And with our growing number of teenage stars, theres no problem casting. What would your perfect cast be?

Superman-James Lafferty
Lightning Lad-Dave Franco
Saturn Girl-Laura Vandervoort
Cosmic Boy-???
Brainiac 5-Jake Campione
Timber Wolf-Zachary Quinto
Phantom Girl-Bridget Reagen
Colloseul Boy-Jared Padelicki

No there is a thread for "Casting the DC Universe", I think the Legion is a big enough topic to have it's own thread. So much potential not only for characters and casting, but also great stories.

I am not sure which thread to post in, but since this is at the top...

I really like the Legion of Super-heroes and would love a movie, but see it more down the line because it is so futuristic and on a large scale, that it can come after Superman is more established (again.)

I thought the animated series skewed too young (though I enjoyed it). If they treated a live-action movie seriously, it could be a great franchise. Esp. since it can involve a lot of planets. Interplanetary war, fear of aliens etc. could provide great drama and even be topical, as well as provide great sci-fi and fx. e.g. Cosmic Boy's magnetic powers as well as his planet could look great onscreen.

It could easily look silly, if they play up someone like Bouncing Boy it can seem childish, so it could be tricky. But I can imagine a scene like the Legion going back in time to see young Clark and that would be a great moment onscreen. As I said, with Superman more established, going back in time to meet Clark will be all the more effective.

Yeah Willi berg, you have alot of good points but I don't really think Superman should play a huge part in a Legion movie. I know he was a big part in the comics and show but just a Legion based movie in itself facing a giant future threat would be awesome, maybe meeting Superman at the end of movie would be legit but just a bunch of teenage superheroes trying to grasp their powers and the idea of teamwork would be cool.

btw could anybody see Jonah Hill as Bouncing Boy?

No Bouncing Boy or Matter Eater Lad in a Legion movie.

The Legion roster should be rather manageable so we can relate to them a bit more. I think it should be at first just be Cosmic Boy, Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Brainiac 5, Chameleon Boy, Dawnstar, Wildfire, Karate Kid, and Phantom Girl.

^Add TimberWolf and Colossal Boy to that line-up and it's perfect.

Well, if the movie focuses on the Legion and their development/formation first, yes, Superman should still be included somehow, even if he isn't the main character. Like you said, at the end, if he is brought to the future to inspire the group (and to show a young Clark a bigger world.) Or maybe he can be incorporated more into the plot, like in the comics, when the story of Superman's origins has been changed in the future and is used as anti-alien propaganda (saying he was born on Earth not Krypton). If there is a war against aliens, Superman would be needed to tell the truth about his heritage. And maybe to even help the group fight if they're in danger.

So I was bored all day at work today and found alot of people I think would be a good cast, and draw in alot of viewers and money.

Cosmic Boy-Robert Pattinson
Lightning Lad-Zac Efron
Saturn Girl-Amber Heard
Bouncing Boy-Jonah Hill
Matter Eater Lad-Allen Evangelista
Phantom Girl-Willa Holand

thechase - interesting, I'd be worried about too big a name labelled a teen heartthrob as a lead, but good up and coming actors would be great in these roles. There are some suggestions and actor photos in the Justice League Casting and Discussion Thread as well (page 18).

btw I really like this page from "Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes" by Geoff Johns, the way it cuts to different planets as they are on the brink of war, and we get to see what life is like on some of them:

Robbie Amell as thr young Man of Steel.
