So, LEGO Batman will be getting his own movie in 2017. Miller and Lord are producing, with Will Arnett returning to voice the character.

The LEGO Movie is currently the highest-grossing animated film of the year, beating out the likes of Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Rio 2, and even How To Train Your Dragon 2, while also remaining ahead of Disney’s just-released Big Hero 6 for the time being. Following its success, Warner Bros. began making plans to turn the film into its own franchise with multiple films set to roll out, starting in 2016 with LEGO Ninjago.

In 2017, which was originally set for The LEGO Movie sequel, WB will instead be bringing us The LEGO Batman Movie, a spin-off of Will Arnett’s version of the Dark Knight. Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will produce the film and speaking with Empire, the pair said they’ll touch on the entire cinematic history of the character in the film.

“Rest assured, every era of Batman filmmaking will be acknowledged,” Lord said.

“There have been so many interpretations of Batman and there is so much to play with there,” Miller added. “There are 40 versions of his origin story alone.”

The LEGO Movie animation supervisor Chris McKay will direct the film which features a script by Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter creator Seth Grahame-Smith. The LEGO Batman Movie debuts on May 26, 2017.

I figured this deserves a thread in the Batman subforum. Anyone else looking forward to this? I think this could be insanely fun, especially with how meta Miller and Lord get with their humor.

I guess this spin-off could work for me.

*Remembers Superman stopped by a chewing gum*

It could be as disappointing as the LEGO Movie was imo, I consider ignoring this movie.

If they do what they did with The Lego Movie, I will be happy cos that was fun film. I would love to see Batmoblies or the Batsuits from the previous films.

This will be epic. Lego Bats was a hoot and a half in the Lego movie.

I didn't feel the outright contempt for superhero movies in Birdman at all. It took just as many punches at the "finer arts". It was more of a critical examination of two sides.

Zack as the LEGO Joker? Excited for the potential humor between him and Arnett's Batman.

Wat? no activity here? This trailer was the best of the Con!

I love the BvS joke, and the Batman Forever reference.
I thought I heard Barbra's voices in one of the MCU Netflix shows, and she's voiced by the one gal to appear in all four seasons.

I really like the trailer, but the one thing I hope they don't do is something stupid like pair Barbara and Batman together.

Sure it's just a Lego movie, but that sort of thing just irritates me. It was creepy in the 90's cartoon, it was weird and out of place in the Killing Joke animated movie and annoying when they had her going out with Tim Drake in Arkham Knight instead of Dick Grayson. It's a pet peeve and I'm sure the movie will be fun, but I just don't want to be distracted by odd things like that while trying to enjoy the movie.

^ I agree wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, that's the direction they seem to have taken with this movie, which (as silly as it might sound) kind of dampens my overall excitement for it.

Oh well. At least they also seem to have changed the character of Barbara enough so that their romance will not feel creepy. They've basically turned her into a female version of her father.

This is the only thing I'm looking forward to from DC next year. I hope it doesn't disappoint.

Billy Dee Williams will voice Two-Face in The LEGO Batman Movie

Entertainment Weekly said:
Billy Dee Williams played district attorney Harvey Dent in Tim Burton’s Batman in 1989. Now, 27 years later, he’ll play the character’s other side of the coin.

The Star Wars hero will voice Two-Face in the upcoming animated project The LEGO Batman Movie, director Chris McKay confirmed on Twitter on Wednesday.

Two-Face makes his first appearance in 1995’s Batman Forever. The franchise switched directors (from Burton to Joel Schumacher) and picked up a new actor to play the villainous side of Harvey Dent: Oscar winner Tommy Lee Jones. Aaron Eckhart played both Dent and Two-Face in 2008’s The Dark Knight.

Reps for Williams did not immediately respond to EW’s request for further comment.

The LEGO Batman Movie boasts voice acting from Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson, Zach Galifianakis, and Ralph Fiennes. It opens February 2017.

surprised there was no activity on this thread since December with the movie being out a week now did any of you guys see it? I saw it today and LOVED it as a HUGE Batman fan I was cracking up all the way through tons of nods to past Batman films and shows and other Bat stuff. The cast was on point, even the cameos (Conan O'Brien as Riddler? awesome!).
