I think Loki is too big a topic/character to have discussion about him limited to the other various Thor threads (and, hey, Sinestro got a thread :oldrazz:).

(Spoilers are from the Protosevich draft)
Anyway, I really liked how Loki was handled in the Protosevich draft. He was very much the trickster we know & love to hate, doing nothing overly complicated yet thoroughly ****ing up Thor's life. However, his descent into villainy felt a little sudden - one minute he was Thor's brother & friend, the next he's planning to overthrow the people who raised him as their son because Odin killed his true father, Ymir, years ago. I hope this has been addressed and his descent has been fleshed out a little bit in newer drafts.

I also hope his father is restored to Laufey. I have no idea why they made Ymir his father

I LOVED that he had his classic costume for the final showdown and I also liked his relationship (if you'd even call it that) with Karnilla.
Anyway - Jude Law, anyone? :woot:

I personally like Bettany for the role of Loki. His face to me seems to scream untrustworthy skeamer. I want whoever plays the role to be much less attractive than pretty boy Thor. Although i wouldn't pitch a fit if they were to cast Law.

But one of the things that makes Loki who he is is that he is supposed to SEEM trustworthy, even when we know he is absolutely not to be trusted.

I like the idea that he has always looked different than everyone and had to rely on his charm and verbal skills his whole life to fit in among the Aesir.

i always kind of envisioned Loki kinda like the badguy in The Cell. Every scene he has a different really theatrical costume which would coincide with the shapeshifting powers trickster gods tend to have. And for the climax be in the traditional yellow horns and green

i think in the old script he does get the green and yellow classic outfit around the 3rd act, dont quite remember what he wore during the 1/2nd act.

Loki is JUST as important as to who is cast as thor, so i am sure it will be a top notch actor as well... I wonder is brian blessed a shoe in for odin the way patrick stewart just had to be professor x.

What about Damian Lewis for Loki?

I know I've suggested him for Sinestro before, but I think he'd be a better fit for Loki.

^ He could work. I also think guys like Guy Pearce and Ewan McGregor would do the role justice.

Jude Law's my ideal choice, though.

Let's hope so.

That's a great concept.

I absolutely agree. Many times it is the villain that makes a hero movie great.

I think Branagh is likely to cast himself as Loki. I think he is a good fit for the role.

^ Branagh is too chubby to be Loki.

This idea reminds me of Jim Carrey in Batman Forever :(

When they say "green and yellow classic outfit", I hope it's less like this...

...and more like his current costume (when he's not pretending to be a pretty lady):

I think the costume redesign (much like Olivier Coipel's redesign of Thor, which I also want the movie look to be based on) is an improvement on the original, which looks more like a comic-book supervillain costume than something a Norse God would wear.

I have to go with Mistress Kizuna's brilliant choice of James Callis (Baltar - Battlestar Galactica). He truly is a great actor and would be amazing in the role. His character is such a complex person - a egotistical genius who verges on madness searching for redemption and a plethora of other emotions.

If not him, then Joaquin Pheonix.:oldrazz:

Keyser Soze I like the second pic.

Yeah, I definitely think second pic is the way to go.

As for Joaquin Phoenix, he's a good actor, but he recently retired from acting to pursue a career in music. We'll see how long that lasts.

Elijah wood is actually an interesting suggestion...but since i think thor will have a lord of the rings feeling to it (fantasy/epic) maybe that is why it's not a good choice for E.W.

hopefully someone who doesn't mind the fantasy setting.. and is willing to give an oscar-caliber performance..

The real question is how would Thor battle Loki in a epic fight? Destroyer armour perhaps? What are your thoughts?

actually i think loki would have some creature possibly a frost giant do his battling for him... loki more than likely would escape instead of being involved in a physical battle.. (which could be a set up for loki to be a bad guy in the avengers possibly controlling the hulk) the destroyer armor is a cool idea though...

I like that idea

it might actually happen.... the avengers will need thor to help capture the hulk... but will it be because the hulk is simply on a rampage or will it be because loki is controlling the hulk or thor thinks a green troll has escaped through a portal from asgard? (all of them would work)

Does anyone think loki should have love interest?
Loki HAD a love interest in the Protosevich script - Karnilla. He knocked her up and the final scene in the script was a preggers Karnilla and Loki hiding out in a cave on Earth.
