Rob Zombie's finally announced his latest movie! I've been waiting for him to do another original work, seeing as those are his strong suit. Should be cool!

EXCLUSIVE: Rob Zombie has committed to make The Lords of Salem his next directorial outing. The film has been put together by Haunted Films, the company run by the Paranormal Activity team of Jason Blum, Steven Schneider and Oren Peli.

The thriller is set in contemporary Salem, where the inhabitants receive a demonic visit from a 300-year old coven of witches. Zombie will write the script while on his upcoming concert tour circuit, and will shoot next year.

I wonder how many of the main characters will have long greasy hair and wear Kiss t-shirts? Only time will tell.

I'm kind of hoping that he'll include some different sort of characters. I love his movies, but you've got a point, he does have a habit of including the same kind of characters over and over again

Chance his wife is in it = chance Helena Bonham Carter will be in the next Burton movie?

You have no idea how downright shocked I was that the first actor cast in Frankenweenie wasn't HBC.

I don't mind seeing SMZ in Rob'z films. It wouldn't surprise me if she was one of the witches in the story

Yeah I don't know what happened to that. From what I saw it was kind of an adaptation of his Graphic Novel "The Nail". I'm actually much happier with this. I think him moving away from the scum bag anti-hero whatever movie is better. I'm looking forward to it

I think people should reserve judgment until we actually see something

I'm not a huge fan of his works, but I don't hate them either. I'm interested in seeing him take on another original property. And yes, please use characters that aren't rednecks.

I agree with you. He really shines when he does original works. I'm glad he isn't doing that Blob remake. This seems like more original subject matter for him. I was half expecting his next film to be another serial killer type movie.

I flip flop with Zombie. Like the music, have since White Zombie, but his movies havent struck a chord with me. Hated House of 1000 Corpses, hated the Halloween movies, but thought Devils Rejects was "okay". I am actually interested in this story though. If he is in fact using modern day Salem, then I strongly suggest he visit there and get a vibe of what the town REALLY is like, along with the people. If he puts his usual white trash, greasy haired hillbillies in ther it just wont work.

H2 was one of the worst movies i've ever seen. Let's hope he bounces back with this.

I'm remaining very optimistic. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed there won't be any greasy white trash characters running around and if there are, lets hope they're tiny parts. This seems like a nice deviation from his usual 70's slasher flick

I love all of Rob Zombie's films and I think this sounds pretty cool, I'm excited to see original material from him.

I've liked everything Zombie has done. This sounds like a decent concept, I'm in.

The difference between Sherri Moon & Helena Bonham Carter is that Sherri is uber hot! So hell yes keep casting her Rob!

I can't wait.

I love all his movies. Yes, even H2. The director's cut of H2 is my second favorite Halloween.

According to Zombie, he had a hard time with his Halloween movies (studio politics) and feels like remakes are running its course.

The Weinsteins made him cut down H2, film more kills, and reshoot the ending.

Dear Rob Zombie,

You've contributed nothing to film society except one movie The Devil's Rejects and even that when picked apart isn't very original or breathtaking.

You destroyed a great horror icon beyond the point of repair. Please stop making movies. We'll all be better off.

never ever fall asleep watching House of 1000 corpses on dvd, because the dvd is cheap and the movie will just play on a loop while you sleep. All the audio was incorporated in my dreams but applied in different ways, mostly to my girlfriend. WORST DREAM EVER

post 2000!
