Can somebody explain this movie too me? I mean i understand he killed the little boy, but was the movie a flashback or something. What did that fat bald dude represent. One scene trevor kills him, the next he in the car with him. Need help understanding this movie.

The fat bald guy was kinda like his conscience eating away at him for what he did.

The waitress' kid was the one he hit, he couldn't sleep afterward cause of the guilt. The rollercoaster ride symbolized his choices. Left to Salvation, right to Hell. When he was driving to the left was the police stsion so he could turn himself in.

Its a great film  Some good acting

Yeah, I kinda figured it had something to do with him killing someone in the past, but I was surprised by the actual specifics of it. Seeing Christian Bale at that weight is still horrifying. Seeing anyone that skinny is always a bit unnerving.

When Michael Ironside's character lost his arm so gruesomely in that machine, I was floored!

Amazing film. The fact that Bale did so much for this movie (not only losingw eight, but alsocompletely transforming himself in his character using both internal and external methods) only made film better.

9/10

people need to open more their minds when watching these kind of movies

I've seen way too many posts complaining about not understanding Mementos

I understood the film after rewatching it twice. It has a very complex structure.

The movie was underwelming IMHO. Was that movie really worth losing all that weight for? I don't think so. My sister disliked it more than I did and we like these type of (mindbending) movies.

that's the whole point of the movie, to make you feel uncomfortable

just like Irreversible, it's all about making you uneasy

I watched it once and it freaked me out (in the good way) but for me it's not one of those movies that you can see again and again. I for one couldn't sit through it another time. Partly because it is pretty slow paced partly because Bale looks like he's about to drop dead. :)

fantastic movie if you havent seen it go and rent this

I love this film! I thought it was very well done. I enjoy these kinds of films.

he went from this to the shape he is in Batman, thsat just insane

(Just over six months or so) Its either dedication or stupidity :)

It really made the film with him getting that thin, you were made to belive that Christian hasn`t slept in a year!

Bale sometimes is crazy, that is why he is my favorite. He can do anything for his role, he is a real and t=very talented actor.

the part where he sucked in his stomach and rotated was disgusting

its great the second time

you really get a lot of foreshadowing, Trevor hit that kid with his red car. In the Route 666 ride, they're in a red car and toward the end of the ride a carboard boy is hit by it. In the photos of young trevor at the amusement park with his mom he's riding in a toy red car

Bale is fantastic in that movie

or it is a good example of why roids work so well?

I love how people get hung up on the fact Bale made a crazy transformation and that he is stupid for doing so. It was a one time deal, how many people are built that way. I think if it was only once I woul do it if I was an actor. Bale himself hated it and prolly wouldnt do it again especially with Batman sequels looming over his shoulder after every seperate project.

I read that Bale is naturally quite skinny .... its harder for him to bulk up than it is to get thin.

What? I said the movie was underwelming, I don't what the hell you are talking about.

It's quite obvious that he is very skinny. He dropped all that weight for the Machinist and he looked downright frightening, so there's definitely some truth to what you just said.

I do remember him saying he will never do it again though. He said his wife was so worried about him that she'd check on him to make sure he was still breathing.

But the fact that he did it shows how dedicated he is.
