The Dark Knight The Man Who Laughs: The Joker Thread 2.0

Like I said before, if he goes to arkham or jail, Ill be happy, if he gets away scott free Ill be ECSTATIC.

That would make Batman look pretty ineffectual.

Couldn't catch Scarecrow, then couldn't catch Joker?

No, Joker belongs in Arkham AFTER Batman catches him.

No, Joker belongs in Arkham AFTER Batman catches him.

He should catch him but then Joker can promptly escape Arkham because the guards there are apparently inept :cwink:

I sure hope the movie's conclusion includes some sort of laugh/smile from Batman to/at the Joker. Seeing Batman smile is so antithetical to his character that it carries a lot of weight when it happens (Killing Joke).

I try to be very open with people's ideas, but I really don't think anything of ther sort will happen in this instance.

I am beginning to agree. My mind is starting to wander in weird directions thinking about this movie too much. As you were responding, I was busy writing this as an edit to my post actually, but you beat me to the punch:

I think I need to take an extended break from these boards and just wait for the movie to come out; thinking about it too much will likely end in some sort of disappointment. It's fun to speculate what might be seen and what would be a dream to see on screen, but we already now we're getting a bunch of those scenes anyway. Just gotta cool off for a while, I think I've just hit my limit in terms of speculation. Not leaving the boards per say, but I should probably stop trying to "figure out how the movie will end". That kinda stuff.

Batman may have no limits, but Bruce Wayne reaps the consequences.
Likewise, my anticipation for this film may have no limits, but that could cause unwanted consequences of unfulfilled feelings down the line. A little restraint is good now and then.

I need a good viral to distract me.

Well you seem like you have a sound mind, so I wouldn't worry too much. I completely understand and agree with what you've said - I'm trying my hardest also just to let the film be what it is without creating what I THINK it'll be in my head. That way does tend to lead to spoiling something for yourself.

Exactamundo. That's what I think I was trying to say there. Glad someone else understands this phenomenon. Ironic this place is called superhero "Hype" come to think of it though, despite the legitimate/meaningful discussions people bring in. Hype has a way of running away with things, I just hope I haven't let it run away with the Dark Knight.

Personally,I wish he didn't die. I'm always tired on having everything wrapped up by the end with these types of film. I didn't check on previous pages, but I didn't hear a rumor that Johnny Depp was rumored to play the Joker for the next movie. So,I'm guessing he lives,or like alot of you have already said,"presumed dead." That sounds better. It's like a little mystery.:cwink:

Depp's name has been thrown around, but it's certainly nothing official - just us lot thinking of ways to keep a character we love alive. I personally don't think Depp would play such a role if he had to conform with a previous actor's interpretation of said character. It's just the way he roles - VIP style. Genetically superior, bro!

Oo, lil bit of Brucie coming out there :D

I don't think that the spoiler holds any water, but if The Joker were to die in this film....................that would be very Se7en.

"What's in the booooooox!!!.."

I may be the odd one out but I love over-hyping myself and trying to work out the entire film in my head and picture it in my mind before I see it. By imagining what I want to see I get a lot of ideas and a greater understanding of what style of film I love and what a good story would be like. Basically I think it's helpful for my writing/film endeavors to over analyze and obsess over films :oldrazz:

Does anyone else think that those featurettes are gonna be on The Dark Knight DVD. I really hope they have a featurette on the history of the joker.

Yeh, I did this with Spidey 3 and the version in my head was better than what was on screen. :o

Although that wasn't exactly difficult. :hehe:

I really can't believe how many people hate S3. I mean I didn't think it was awesome or anything, but I don't give a crap about Spiderman so I wasn't expecting anything when I went into see it and thought it was fine for popcorn eating purposes :cwink:

So tell me, what did you hate most about it? Cause my man and I were just talking about this phenomina today, how everyone hates it and we're not completely sure why. :yay:

My number one reason for hating it is that I wasted time to go see it instead of studying for a final that I had on that day and it cost me at least a letter grade in that class. The actual details have a lot to do with the fact that the plot felt like a B-movie. Very campy. The romantic elements were even more over the top than the first two. The only good thing about it was Aunt May was almost completely gone. I HATED her cheesy monologues in Spidey 1 and 2. Anyway, Venom got raped as a character and the convenient plot elements were ridiculous, particularly surrounding Harry's amnesia and later the butler conveniently telling Harry after all that time about how his dad really died.

I don't like musicals :o

Spiderman 3 sucked flaming, hot, sweaty, goat testicles. What a damned travesty...

I feel the same way as you, I could care less either way. Great popcorn movie though. Alot of people really detested the dancing scene in the jazz bar. (Which I thought was a "nuke the fridge" moment, lol)

I'm a fan of Spidey in general and I wasn't really that shocked by S3. It was definately sub par compared to S1 and especially S2, but I think it's still a pleasant movie with very good moments (and some cringeworthy ones, too).

Pretty much sums up my own views on the movie. The dancing and the slapstick provided some of the better moments for me, it's really the dramatic scenes that devolved into soap opera, and the poorly conceived plot devices that bothered me.

Spider-Man 3 feels like a fan edit of Spider-Man 3 and 4, if that makes sense. It really is two movie scripts welded together.

Agreed. One of the movie's biggest problems (if not the biggest problem), imo.

Stop making me agree with you :cmad:

It's funny how now there are rumours about 4 and 5 being shot back to back. That really kinda bugs the livin cack out of me. Waisted chances if this is true.

:o

Wrong boards lol :)

Not filming X3 and 4 back to back was more of a wasted opportunity, imo. You're right about the wrong boards thingie, though.

I highly doubt what the podcast said is true. David Goyer said well before TDK started filming that the Joker would not be killed off.
