The Dark Knight The Man Who Laughs: The Joker Thread 2.0

you know...i agree with putting Hammil's joker in there...screw the fact it aint live action. thats the bloody best we've seen so far!! (...till the flick comes out) :)

There is no doubt that Ledger's Joker has the most in common with Romero's.

The appearance, too. Ledger's Joker has a scruffier reference to Romero's extended smile and buoffant hair.

I see that, they both have a clown presence to them compared to Jack just acting insane all the time.

..so if Romero (light and giddy) and Jack (dark and evil looking) had a bastard child...it would be Ledger. :)

Heath has done an incredible job of bringing the Joker to life, it looks amazing from the bits and pieces we've seen. Not just the physicallity, but also the voicework, the way he says his lines with the little nuances, it's just amazing I'm especially fond of this one. "If you want order in Gotham, Batman must take of his mask, and turn himself in". The way he says it, it's full of agression.

I don't think that I'll ever accept Ledger's Joker fully. There's too many changes to the character to call him the ultimate Joker.

I agree. The re invention is interesting in its own way, but it seems a shame that it guarantees that a seminal version will never exist- or at least, not for many years to come.

It's the Joker in Nolan's vison. The Joker is supposed to be a mass-murdering clown with a messed up head not the goofball we got in B89.

And I said it before, if they want to do it this way, they need to throw "Elseworld" in the title, because this not the Joker of the current comics.

I agree. This version doesn't seem to the be Joker that I would have preferred. And, in my opinion, it's too bad because the stage was set for a truly definitive comic-accurate Joker in TDK. We have a newly established franchise with Batman's origin having already been depicted, a good director who understands the characters, and a young actor who was ready to make the role come to life.

That said, I'm over it. I understand what we're getting, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds.

Why can't people just anticipate/enjoy Ledger without disparaging Jack? Also--get this--you can like them both.

*Sigh*

I loathe fans like you who drag down one version of the Joker just to try and make another seem better.

Goofball? You mean theatrical, right? Mass murdering clown, well gee what was Nicholson's Joker up to when he poisoned Gotham's products? What was his agenda when he gassed the crowd with lethal smilex at the 200th anniversary festival?

Could he have been.....*gasp*...mass murdering people? :cwink:

do you mean because hes not perma white? or are there other changes your not happy with?

Every movie is considered elseworlds, no director tried to make it fit with the current or past comics. None of the films need the "Elseworld" in the title, to satisfy(?) a handful of fans.

...in what way was that Joker not a mass murderer, a clown or posessed of a "messed up head"?

So by this logic pretty well every single comic book movie to date should have "Elseworld" in its title?

Hmmmm....shouldn't it just be common sense?

THE DARK KNIGHT: ELSEWORLD
BATMAN BEGINS: Elseworld
Superman Returns: Elseworld

I dunno for some reason it fits....

You know what, I like it. I can't wait for Superman: Man of Steel: ELSEWORLD. Now there's an epic title, with 2 colons!

:hehe:
