The Dark Knight The Man Who Laughs: The Joker Thread 2.0

well I wasn't really thinking that while I was watching it. I just saw dogs after repeat viewings because I was looking for it.

Yeah I agree with CatainClown, the usage of dogs is subtle in that scene. Sure its something I caught onto fast but it wasn't like right in you're face, its not like Nolan was saying "SEE GUYS!! See hes like a dog!!! SEE!! HAHA!! Me and my metaphors aye!!! HA!"...no, subtle :o

yeah, the dogs throughout the movie are subtle and how he licks his lips and how hes so jittery and jumpy and how he sticks his head out of the window and how he says "i'm like a dog chasing cars"

........subtle

Ya, it wasn't like Batman Begins which was screaming FEAR FEAR FEAR

haha ok

but i also forgot "jokers just a mad dog, i want whoever let him off the leash"

:oldrazz:
All that stuff was in your face. I still feel that him out the window wasn't in your face about it and easy to look over, thus subtle.

Also "lets cut you up and feed you to your pooches blah blah blah"

"I'm like a dog chasing cars... I wouldn't know what to do if I caught one of them I just Do..."

i kinda wish now that he had really started shouting "blah blah blah!"

but ok....CC it could be subtle...but really it wasnt....and you dont have to flash the theme on screen every 5 minutes for it to not be subtle

Well i am not really talking about the dog theme, that was bad wording. I am talking about him hanging out of the window as it could be easily overlooked.

More Cesar Romero TDK style :woot:

So we have different opinions on what is "subtle" and what isn't. I didn't think the dog metaphors were brash or 'in your face' during the film, they never bothered me and I felt like they meshed well with the film.

I noticed the metaphor during my first viewing but it is something that people may not catch up on so quick unlike the metaphors in Batman Begins which were practically spoon fed to you. This just my opinion however.

oooooohhhhh, i see, then yes, well...i wouldnt say it is easily overlooked, i think its relevance is overlooked

im pretty sure when people saw that they thought "wow like a dog"

I really didn't think like a dog. Felt like mocking being carted off to jail. Typically when you go to Jail you are in the back confined, Joker was breaking out of Jail so he was hanging out free and ya.

hmmm....never thought of it that way

very cool theory

^Yeah, same here. Dog really wasn't the first thing that came to my mind to be honest and I don't think it was the first thing to come to the mind's of the majority. Most people watch movies just to be entertained and really don't pick up on metaphors; Im one of those people who likes to pick up metaphors and catching clandestine meanings in films but I'm one of few...and if you like doing that so are you. Todays audiences have really short attention spans, they hate movies for not having enough explosions so really doubt they'll care much about hidden themes or metaphors.

i wouldnt say it was crappy, i like the character, specially Murphy

it isnt as good, but i wouldnt say its crap....if you feel that way pop in B&R for about.......10 seconds

haha that reminds me, we got to talking about TDK in my script analysis class and someone said it "didnt have enough explosions" i laughed

......anyways....that joker huh?
