The Mandalorian The Mandalorian: General Thread

I hope Mandalorian rarely if ever takes off his helmet. Like Goblin Slayer.

My guess is the mark Mando is looking for is where things sort of get conflicted and he ultimately opts not to turn that asset over to Herzog. Not that Herzog accepted the asset to be returned dead but for a lower fee.

Herzog comes off like an old Imperial officer or general who has become a warlord now.

Love it!

...and now time to move over to the by now likely insane with hype GOT forum.

People on Reddit are saying Bill Burr is the guy with the triple blasters.

Mandalarion going Karl Urban Dredd with the helmet than Sly Dredd would be cool

If that's the route they go, then massive props to Pedro Pascal. Not many actors would be cool with such an idea. Or producers for that matter since usually the first thing they do with such characters is de-mask them.

Really love the grittier feel of the show based on the footage!

Favourite shot was when:
The Mandalorian hit the Stormtrooper across the face, shattering his helmet!!!!

:eek::wow::mrk:

They could totally continually Solo like this.

Yeah, pretty much what I've been saying since Solo bombed. No direct "Solo II", but I'd put money on us seeing Ehrenreich again. Probably way down the line given we've got two (and rumored three, the Obi-Wan one) Disney+ shows in the works, but something like Crimson Dawn V.S. Jabba featuring Han (and Greedo and Boba and yadda yadda) seems like something that'll happen. Guess they can't wait too long given Alden's not that far off approaching Harrison's age circa ANH, but I could see it like 5-6-7 years down the road.

And yeah, really glad to hear they'll be putting one episode up at a time for this, too. Make it last, savor it all week-by-week like we all used to before the binge nonsense became a thing. Good way to differentiate themselves a bit from the way Netflix does things.

Also, man, even more than the ship I'm freakin' loving that they did some model/miniature work with it too. :woo:Sure there'll be CG shots of it too, no doubt, but yeah. Always felt the walkers and stuff look a little off to me in the Disney era, the AT-ATs in Rogue One and the chicken-walkers in Solo. Doesn't matter much with the prequels or sequels as there's a bit of a different visual look to them and the CG fits, but kinda felt with like Rogue One being that close to the OT I personally could have gone for a physical miniature Satr Destroyer or AT-AT here and there for giggles, you'd get away with it. Glad to see they're toying with it here, it looked good in that shot from the panel. As Favreau (Filoni? Can't remember) said, "it looks like Luke's X-Wing!". And it totally does, same vibes, really helps sell the blending-with-the-OT thing.

EDIT: That Clone Wars trailer today looks supercrazybananaballs, too. Can't wait for that, even if it'll be a little weird jumping back into that after Rebels and Resistance. Still, been wanting some prequels-era stuff under the Disney era, cool to get it again even in animation.

I keep rewatching the episode footage and sizzle reel. So awesome this will be at launch for Disney + or well at least the first episode.

Is there going to be a Marvel show at launch too? I keep forgetting

Yep. Pretty sure I even saw it on the main site page here earlier, in the article about the panel.

If not, a little creative Youtube searching should rustle it up pretty quickly. It's awesome.

That Herzog scene & voiceover are so badass, by the way. Yep, Germans be creepy. Heh.

Saw some lame speculation in the comments about "they're totally gonna reveal it as being Boba by the end of season 1". Seriously, seriouly doubt that. Even though Boba's voice was originally American it's been pretty heavily established as the New Zealand thing in everything since, they're not going to mess with that. And shouldn't, keep him dead.

The youtube versions of the footage are being taken down (and we can't post any here since there are no official releases yet due to unfinished effects), but places like StarWarsLeaks on reddit are a good place to look.

In the sizzle reel at the 34 second mark, I wonder who that Bounty Hunter is. :hmm

For those who have seen the second clip they showed, did anyone else think Pedro (if it was him under there) looked kind of uncomfortable walking around in the suit in the streets? Almost seemed as it there was a woman inside the armor or something.

Was I the only one who thought the footage was kinda boring without knowing the proper context? A lot of made up words thrown around and obvious fanservice thrown around, but not much story to give it any meaning.

I'm still hopeful, and I'm certainly more excited for it than IX, but the clips didn't excite me like I thought they would.

Seems like ''fan service'' is thrown around to describe every Star Wars thing these days, so eh, that doesn't really mean anything. IMO.

To each their own I guess. I'm just happy we're getting more quiet and character driven moments.

That's really sad for you.

Mando: "Pin code?"
Herzog: We can only provide the last four digits, they are 50 years old ... and the last location of the "asset".
So the MacGuffin/Bounty "the asset" goes back 50 years?
Placing it in what film era's time frame, before Phantom Menace?
What was going on 50 years ago?
When was Anakin being born / "created"?

And exactly how old is Nolte? LOL!:oldrazz:

Also as far as that "new" armor?

Herzog: "“It’s good for beskar to be back in the hands of a Mandalorian ...It’s nice to restore things after a period of disarray.”

Thoughts?
Is this about the "new" armor? Although he's not wearing it yet?
Or any familiar Mando armor, and this a slight towards the Fetts who may not have been legit Mandos, yet wore the familiar armor?

"back in the hands of a Mandalorian"

Also joked about this way back, but what if the bounty leads to not something 50yo, but something that was planed 50 Years ago, and would only just recently be born/manifest ....a new being ... a certain new hopeful youngling ....Rey. LOL!
Yeah I went there.
And when he sees what it is, decides to forgo payment, and not deliver in order to protect her, hence she ends up left on Jakku.

Anyone want to do the math on that one?:oldrazz:
Or cue all the no fun curmudgeon complaints of; not everything has to connect!

So I saw the footage on YouTube, and I gotta say I'm significantly hyped. Jon Favreau does good work so I think the odds are good we have a hit. It's a good compromise to making a Boba Fett movie as well. Lord only knows how that would turn out, always seemed risky to me. But making a new character from the same culture is far better I think.

Now...if we can just get a Black Series toy of the Mandalorian.

Nolte is 78.

Total speculation on my part, but my guess is that the asset is like a weapons engineer or scientist.
