THE MARVEL OSCARS

This is an idea I stole from the Stephen King forums, and it's a lot of fun.

There are SIX categories:

Best Movie
Best Hero
Best Heroine
Best Villain
Best Director
Best Screenplay

Please state your FIVE picks for each category (in no order). You may only pick an actor, actress or director for one movie, so if you liked Hugh Jackman in all four X-Men films, please nominate him four times. You may not change your picks once they are posted.

Nominations will be open for TWO MONTHS, closing at midnight GMT on June 19.

On June 26, the final nominees will be announced, as will the voting system to determine the overall winner in each category.

LET NOMINATIONS COMMENCE! EXCELSIOR!

Well, technically, Kick-Ass isn't a Marvel Movie...Marvel Movie is a movie based on a Marvel comic, a movie with the Marvel's logo in front of him...Kick-Ass has the logo? No. Kick-Ass is produced/co-produced/produced in association with Marvel? No. So Kick-Ass is not a Marvel Movie!!!

The first two Blade films didn't have that marvel Logo. Were they co-produced with Marvel? (legit question, I'm not sure)

I think it should count if it's based on Marvel Property.

Nope. Blade, Blade II and the first X-Men didn't have that Marvel logo because the logo was created for Spider-Man and after Spider-Man introduced in all Marvel Movies (also Blade: Trinity), with only a variant (Marvel Knights introduced for Punisher: War Zone). In Blade and Blade II, that it's a Marvel property, was co-produced with Marvel: Avi Arad and Stan Lee are executive producers of the movie.

Kick-Ass hasn't Marvel logo, is not based on a Marvel comic (it's an Icon Comic and the rights are of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., so not a Marvel property), Kevin Feige/Stan Lee/Avi Arad are not producing. Marvel has nothin' to do with Kick-Ass.

Clearly, you didn't read the rules. Please pick ONE film for each actor. If you want to include them in multiple films, it must be separate nominations.

Also, Kick-Ass counts for the purposes of this game.

Is Constantine a DC movie? I didn't see the DC logo on it. But it's still considered a DC film since it's Vertigo and DC owns Vertigo. And as for the rights issue, Hellboy is owned by Mignola who only uses Darkhorse to distribute his comics. Yet Hellboy is considered a Darkhorse comic/film. Same thing here. Marvel owns Icon and Millar/Romita Jr. use Icon to distribute their comics/film. So it is a Marvel film, technically.

Again: no. Constantine has a Dc Comics logo: in front of the movie there is the Dc Logo tramuted into Vertigo Comics! Also V For Vendetta has the Dc Logo tramuted into Vertigo Comics!!!

Hellboy it's a different thing. Dark Horse hasn't a studio for movies like Dc Entertainment or Marvel Studios!

A Marvel movie is a movie with the Marvel or Marvel Knights logo in front of him, based on a Marvel property (distributed by Marvel or Marvel Knights or Marvel Max, not Icon or somethin' else) and produced/executive produced/co-produced by Stan Lee, Avi Arad, Kevin Feige, David Maisel.

Constantine is a Dc Comics/Vertigo, the rights are of Dc. Kick-Ass is distributed by Icon but the rights are of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.. Icon has only distributed the comic but hasn't right on him. And it's why the movie is produced by Millar, Brad Pitt and Matthew Vaughn e Marvel has nothin' to do with him!

Fair enough. I still disagree(it's associated with Marvel still and I don't see a list of requirements beyond that) but it's a moot point anyway since the OP already said Kick Ass counts for the purposes of this thread.

Yes, i know for the purpose of the thread Kick-Ass counts but off topic, the movie is not a Marvel movie...:whatever:

Kick-Ass is published by Marvel, but Millar has all the rights. I'd still count it as a Marvel film though.

As I don't have enough posts for a sig yet (a system I just do not understand), if others could advertise this thread in their sigs, I would be very grateful. Want to get as many people in this as possible, so we can get an honest idea of what the Hype's favourite is.
