Marvel Films The Marvel Studios News and Discussion Thread

And Wonder Man should have appeared in a movie (preferably Avengers) before getting a solo show. Marketing wise, who's really going to care about Wonder Man? The thing about the Mcu in its early years, they've used the bigger movies to introduce characters that weren't popular yet or characters that may need some extra hype. As far as I know, Wonder Man isn't appearing in any mcu movies next year. So its going to be like Ms. Marvel, She Hulk and Moon Knight (introduced in their solo project) but with a less marketable character.

That's not really true at all. Every phase 1-3 title character was introduced originally in their own movie except Spider-man and Black Panther, who hardly needed the extra hype.

As well as Black Widow and Hawkeye, though admittedly it took longer to get their solo projects.

It didn't just take longer. They were never intended as title characters in the first place and didn't get promoted to title characters until over a decade after their first appearance. So obviously they were introduced as supporting characters because that's exactly what they were supposed to be.

I dont think it's necessarily a bad thing. Spider-Verse and 97 set the bar high, so if Marvel Animation's upcoming project have nothing to offer *cough* What If *cough* people will naturally compare and complain.

I won't say I won't stand for What If slander, but I think the show has definitely had standout episodes. Some episodes have been great even. IMHO the show lives up to the spirit of the comic series, simply with MCU characters and scenarios.

I've read on X, that after 2025. It would be 2 movies and 3 series....

2 movies per year are fine especially if they want to maintain respectable numbers at the box office. But 3 shows? We should be getting fewer (preferably only 1 per year) as the shows are still the Achilles' heel of the Mcu!

Think it's a translation issue cuz he said this for after 2025 and we already know they have 3 movies slotted for 2026 and 2027.

They're probably just obsessed because the movie made over a billion dollars.
The X-Men the team is a bigger priority over Channing Tatum as Gambit.

I'm not sure if Ryan Reynolds is factoring the inevitable X-Men reboot when he's making these comments. Marvel Studios was kind enough to bring the non-MCU actors into the MCU. Even though they did help this last movie at the box office and most of us would love it again when they return for Doomsday and Secret Wars. I don't think the Fox actors (in their original Marvel role) should be in the Mcu long term - the 2030s and so on.

Deluxe expanded editions of the Blade I and II soundtracks have been released.

Black Panther was hardly a popular character to the general public before the movie came out. While Tom Holland was introduced as Spider-Man in Civil War, 2 years after Tasm2. That was a strategic move from Marvel Studios to build more buzz to the upcoming films of those two.

Hawkeye wasn't given a movie and ONLY given a solo project after 10 long years since Avengers 1. While Black Widow took years to get a solo movie, and was introduced in Iron Man 2, a sequel to a popular movie.

Obviously, Iron Man, Captain America and Thor were bit of gamble that managed to succeed. But we aren't in the golden days of the MCU anymore in which every movie is a winner at the box office. Plenty of these mcu shows have come and went if I'm not mistaken.

What a weird collection of shows.
It is. Daredevil and Fantastic 4 aren't weird, simply because these are classic Marvel ips that deserve their own project.

Thunderbolts, Sam Wilson, Ironheart and Wonder Man, though? With so many mcu projects that have been released in the last 15 years, I don't see how these projects could stand out, when they are finally out there. We are now in post Endgame Mcu, in which we have a box office flop like The Marvels, a $496 million grossing movie (Quantumania) is considered as an underperformer, 3 Rotten scores from RT, and did shows like She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, Echo and Agatha really help the Marvel brand?

A lot of these newer Mcu projects lack the special and must see factor. It became a routine for the sake of putting content out there.

Who the title character is doesn't matter so long as the projects are good. I have no idea of Agatha hit the streaming goals, but it's a perfect example of a well done show for a smaller character. The issue is many of the shows they did were average quality and didn't stand out. What they need to do is make sure the content is of high quality. If Wonder Man is going to be a good show, make it. If it's gonna be Falcon & Winter Soldier quality, then don't

My guess: Doom is going to have his own Avengers and Evans will be Hydra Cap. But we will see proper Steve in Secret Wars

Everytime someone new is rumoured for Doomsday/Secret Wars. I'm just like how is this all going to work out with 50+ characters on screen. With Infinity War/Endgame, I wasn't skeptical because Marvel Studios was surprising people in a good way with good results. But this current Multiverse saga, its the opposite...

I always find it interesting whenever actors say they don't watch the movie/show they are in. All the work, from getting the job, filming for months and doing all the promotions, and not dedicate some spare time to watch the entire finished product.

Though if I was in the same position, I don't think I would want to watch myself acting and hearing my voice.
