Is anyone else watching this incredible series. I adore it. Alex borstein who also plays Lois griffen in family guy is incredible and tony shalhoub is always a delight.

It’s about a women in the ‘50s who decides to give stand up comedy a go. If you haven’t seen it yet, try it out

It took me a little while to get around watching the pilot. Way too much stuff on my plate and I was really backed up on stuff I was watching. But once I did, I was hooked. Since then I have watched through the first season 3 times. Brosnahan's Midge is already an all time favorite character of mine. As a big Monk fan, seeing Tony Shalhoub was always going to be a treat, but he just kills it even more then I could have hoped for. Really, all the performances are terrific and just make the show such a delight and a very easy, enjoyable watch. Well except for Joel. Joel can die. :argh: :o

I just can't wait for season 2, and I am so happy it is already renewed for a third season:

Same! I held off because there was a lot going on but from the first episode I realised it was truly special. Some of the tracking shots are just amazing. How did they get all the period details so perfect?

I had to dig this thread up. I finally got around to season 3 and finished it in one day. Midge teaching Susie how to swim is easily one of the funniest things I've seen on TV in a long time.

Sterling K. Brown was a nice addition this year as well. I really enjoy it, and I hope Midge takes her much needed reality check well.

I loved season 3. It felt different from the first two seasons, but still worked really well imo. I just love being around her, Susie and her family so much, and their change of circumstance was a nice change of pace.

I spent half of the season hoping Midge wasn't going to do what I knew she was going to do, and it killed me when she finally did it. Also watching Midge bomb will never feel good, but it is so effective.

I went from feeling awful for Susie, to being utterly pissed at her by the end of the season. Why Susie, why?!?! :csad:

The maid situation killed me every time. So funny. :funny:

I still hate Joel.

Oh and if Midge and Lenny never have that one night together, I am going to break something. :argh:

This show is great. Yeah, what Midge did there at the end with Shy was awful. But definitely a teachable moment for her and a realistic depiction of how those things went back then (and sometimes still do). And yeah, I don’t want Midge and Lenny to hook up; I like their relationship platonic.

I don’t hate Joel but I don’t want him and Midge to end up together because she deserves better. I do like his new girlfriend though and I think he works well with her. I also hope this isn’t the end or Zach Levi’s character because he’s great. Also, Cary Elwes and Sterling K. Brown were nice surprises.

Yeah, the final episode was the hardest to watch because you knew exactly what's coming. I just hope Midge learns from it. And same with Susie for her gambling addiction.

I actually like Joel. Part of it is that actor because I really liked him in Rescue Me and Boardwalk Empire too, but I like the fact that he owns to his mistakes, still cares for Midge and seemingly wants to be better for his new girlfriend. I like her too. I hope they stay together.

Yeah, that one night stand is definitely happening. She had more chemistry with him than she did Zachary Levy's character.

I agree. In a lesser show Joel would have been just a stereotypical d-bag ex-husband. But this show makes him feel like a genuine, sympathetic character and shows that he and Midge were good for each other once. Yet, it doesn't necessarily make one want them to get back together. I think they work incredibly well as amicable exes. That scene of them in divorce court was a thing of beauty.

And, yeah, I also like Joel with his new girlfriend with the dubious Chinatown underworld connections.

As a former watcher of Rescue Me and Bordwalk Empire as well, that is a reason to dislike him in my book. :o

My issue with Joel, is beyond him crossing boundaries as the ex that he shouldn't, this still a level of resentment he has for others in his life who he perceives as more successful with him. It is why he and Midge had to break up the second time, and when his new girlfriend tried to help him out, he freaked out.

Joel is a better guy then he was in the first season. He seems to have learned from one of his mistake, though I did not like his reaction to his friend almost cheating. Because while he did try to stop him, he also seemed okay with his wife not knowing. But for me, there are inherent insecurities and character flaws that make me dislike him, especially as he continues to be in Midge's life. But that is just a me thing.

To me that night with Midge and Lenny was their will they, won't they, and they probably aren't going to now. Which makes me sad. For all his issues, he feels like the one person in the world who gets hers, makes her happy, and doesn't have to change himself to make her happy. Thing is, they both don't want to seem to ruin that, while at the same time he seems to realize he isn't good enough for her.
