Because, unfortunately, Hollywood is an institution rooted in corruption from its initial inception, debauchery and lack of accountability, and that kind of system unfortunately produces and attracts a lot of creepy a**holes.

 

I feel like people just decided to ignore that he got kicked off a set for "inappropriate behavior" which we all know is code for sexual harrassment.

 

I disagree with this take. Since nearly the beginning, they had to cultivate a culture of secrecy and hiding stuff to protect themselves. Between sexuality and political beliefs, many had to hide aspects of their life from the public. Now, the problem is, when you create such an environment, it can quickly become an environment where predators thrive.

Just how much dirt does this organization have on people to be able to have the power to dismiss any cases against them despite extremely incriminating evidence?

Why, I'm not on the jury. My opinion doesn't matter in the court of law. I have seen enough accusations to believe what I believe of Spacey.

A case like this is difficult enough if filed promptly. After 30 years, even more difficult.

Wasn't a fan of Crash, but all of his other work's pretty good (especially Casino Royale). And it's not just one victim, it seems like he's a serial rapist.

 

So, on top of being a super massive creep, Vic Mignogna, in his most recent video he posted on Twitter, is also throwing fan event, with participation from fellow scumbags Geeks + Gamers and Nerdrotic. Ugh.

It sickens me that he continues to try to associate himself with Trek.

 

There probably is a lot of debauchery but I think it was George Clooney who directly said with the tabloids they read a lot of ridiculous, crazy false accusations about themselves and with knowing that is false they do tend to also disbelieve negative rumors and accusations about others too.

OTOH not Hollywood itself but the news/tabloid media is very interested in there being a lot of accountability, scandals do help them (although even more so rumors and prolonged scandals)-and they're so aggressive and unscrupulous in trying to get them that they generally discredit themselves.

Not particularly. He lost his major source of income (con appearances outside of a few, alt right friendly cons) and secondary source of income (voice acting). He is left with the right wing grift, which everything points out that he was already sympathetic.

I had never even heard of the guy until reading about him right now. Looked him up and saw he went to Liberty University. That should tell you everything you need to know about him right there.

 

Sadly, too many others "cancelled" don't have this level of satisfaction of consequences.

 

That was a good read. It's just too bad so many places were willing to book him until the backlash started, like they did not expect there to be a negative response to his presence? He's accused of some serious crimes and they pretend they didn't know? What kind of vetting process is that?

 

Despite him essentially being an open secret, it not having a huge backlash allowed people to still profit off him. In many ways, it was a lot like how people are still willing to work with pieces of **** in Hollywood.
