Anybody here in the medical field or are looking to get into it? If so, what are you going to do and where are you going to school?

Me, I'm at Tyler Junior College in East Texas currently studying to be a Liscensed Vocational Nurse. I'm half way through and graduate in Feb.

After that I'm going back to the same school for my Associates Degree in Registered Nursing. Then I plan to work in the OR for some time and work my way through an online school where I can earn my BSN then eventually my Master's Degree.

It's going to be a long haul, but I'll get there eventually. After all, I'm only 20, I think I go some time left.

Good luck  :)

I worked in health care for about 8 years as a recreation thearpist in long term health care. My aunt is a nurse. Will you be going towards being a nurse practitioner it's one step away from being a doctor

I'm gonna be training to be a Surgical Tech in October at Bryman in Hayward. 13 month program, 5 of them interning. The biggest downside of the job: having to shave peoples genitals.

I more than likely will be. Pay check wouldn't be too bad. ;)

Yeah it wil, will you remain in Texas or will you look around. I know there's a lot of nursing homes in Texas. Wel,l any where you go nurses are in high demand. You'll never go with out a job.

just to have a career to fall back on. or switch whenever i feel like it.

Living in California though, not a bad career choice. Plenty of practices. Plenty of surgeries.

Very smart to have a back-up by doing two things. Good move.

Cool a medical thread! I start Med school next week I just came back from a tour of the campus, which I absolutely adore; my sister and I got our white coats during the orientation/family day ceremony yesterday!

Actually, I saw an add at the hospital last week (on of the RNs showed to me) for nurses to come out to Cali. all paid expenses, 2,000 dollar signing bonus, and up to 10,200-11,000 a week!

Yeah, for real. I'll never be outsourced.

I plan to stay in Texas, but that could always change. I have a soon-to-be wife and a son, so I have to think about them before moving. That's one of the reasons why I'm finishing school online after I get my ADN.

how old are you?

I think I'm going to do very well, the only thing I have to worry about is learning all that anatomy. My professor said that I'll know more than a doctors worth.
