The MLB Thread

Oh yeah......they also had a Ohtani and Decoy bobblehead night. LOL

Dodgers have the advantage now with 2 0 Lead though I wonder how a rematch would have faired with Yanks and my Phils from 09 but that's another story. Game 3 in NY see if the yankees can get back into the series. (Glad the mets didn't make it)

You could literally feel the air being sucked out of the city when this happened. They are saying the prognosis is good. He had complete mobility with strength in his injured left shoulder. He's also a right-handed thrower (not that it matters this year as he's a FT DH).
Thankfully it was just a dislocated shoulder and he's been clear to play tonight.

Yeah. A partial dislocation (the doctors call it a suble...lalala....that I can't spell LOL) and he has full range of motion with strength, but it could still handicap his swing. Who knows..... if he's not swinging as hard and focusing on contact, perhaps good things can happen. Just no more sliding like that into 2nd please.....

This is as good a shot as the Yanks have. Buehler has been throwing much better, but he's had a lot of time off and I don't look for him to be particularly sharp. You make a mistake to 2-4 of that lineup and they'll probably make you pay. Soto has been freaking great and it trying to carry the team. Judge has looked awful. His mechanics are all out of whack, but if he gets going......perhaps a day off to go over things will help him.

Buehler low pitch count, 2 hits, and the Dodgers up 4-0. Roberts pulls him at the end of the 5th. I don't care whether they win or lose, I think Roberts is an idiot.

Bleh. Whatever. I think the Yankees have enough to win 4 in a row. Haha 😋

So, this is bizarro world......I just read that Ohtani's contract is $2M/year until 2034 and then $68M per year for the next 10 years. :lmao: Dude's gonna get a slice of the team or something....I've heard of backloaded contracts, but.....

Plus, he earns around $65 million per year, just from endorsements alone, I think.

I didn't think the Yankees would be playing this badly in the World Series this year. Makes me wonder how much better the Guardians would have fared if they had made it past New York.

While winning the first 3 games, the Dodger also accomplished something very important. They'll have a bullpen game today, but after that, their starting rotation is set for the rest of the series. This is literally the first time this has happened during the playoffs. They'll have Flaherty, Yamamoto, and Buehler for the last 3 games (if necessary). All had very, very solid to outstanding starts. The starting pitching advantage the Yankees had is now gone, as are, in all likelihood, any chance to win this series.

MLB got exactly the 2 teams they wanted....and a likely sweep!!!! Gotta love the irony

Yeah......they were definitely hoping for a 7 game series. That looks very unlikely at this point. You never know, but.........

For those who aren't baseball historians, the Dodgers swept the Yankees in 1963 behind the pitching of Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, and Johnny Podres.

Good for them? Lol

When I was growing up, I had a book about the history of baseball that I loved. It went back to Abner Doubleday (it actually cast doubt on the claim he invented the game of baseball) and the dead ball era and I read about people like Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown, Cap Anson, Denton True "Cy" Young, Tris Speaker, Shoeless Joe, etc.. It went into the great Yankee era of the 20s and 30s and further on. I read about Babe Herman and the Daffy Dodgers, Dizzy Dean, etc. and the book continued well into the 1960s.

I learned to become very good at arithmetic at an extremely early age because I would calculate ERA and BA.....my math skills came in very handy at a later age when I got into statistical analysis and electronic engineering. So, I guess I owe a lot to my interest in baseball.

It's a bummer. I can't help replaying Game 1 in the end, like what if the Yankees kept Weaver to the bottom of the 10th or had Hill come in instead of Nestor. I actually personally thought Dodgers would win but I really wish Yankees took game 1 so that tonight could feel more exciting. Oh well.

Hey whatever works. I was that way about the history of football in my youth, but general sports bitterness has taken hold of that side of my brain lol

Does that mean the dangers of living in Cleveland (or around it) are subtle and insidious? :funny:

3 more wins to go. 😋

Would be great if Cole can throw a masterclass tomorrow. Please? Pretty please? My mind is thinking Dodgers finish it tomorrow but please Yankees make it interesting again.
