Well, okay, you're going to notice something missing from this list. Something rather large. There's no DC Comics. DC has a few things listed for the 29th on their website, so it's probably a flub on Diamond's part, which happens from time to time. I'll keep up with the list and update when/if they put in DC's comic. Though, it is entirely possible that DC may be taking off the last week, but it's likely just a case of not having a full list.

EDIT: Okay, Diamond has updated and fixed the list.

SPIDER-GIRL #2

Short week to end the year on. I only get two DC books and I doubt any of them come out. As for Image, who knows.

Astonishing Spidey/Wolvie is actually running behind schedule, which is a bit pathetic since it was already a bi-monthly. Issue four should have come out in November.

Diamond fixed the list, so I went ahead and updated the list in the first post. It's exactly what was on the website far as I could tell, so no big deal in the end.

So far, this batch of What If comics has been pretty dreadful.

I agree for the most part. The only story I've been liking is Remender's What If? Venom Possessed Deadpool which has awesome moments such as Peter Parker falling to his death crying "Save Me, Lord Mephisto!" Or with Mummy Moon Knight with a character going on a rant on how street characters should remain on the streets doing street business and familiarity above all else! Or Galactus going "Behold! Galactus is the Baby Daddy!"

BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT #1

Provided the DC list is correct here is my list. I'm still not sure if I want to bother with Dark Knight. I don't care to pick up another Batman book but I do like Finch so that's the draw. I'll decide at the moment. X-23 is a title I'm curious about and am considering picking up. I want to get the back issues still and being that this is potentially a smaller week it might be a decen time for that. I haven't decided though. And I enjoyed the Rockslide/Anole story in To Serve and Protect so I'm debating on continuing. I'm a sucker for those students.

As for the rest... decent week. Avengers is my least favorite of the Avenger book so that's a week point and Green Arrow is hit and miss. I'm super excited for Green Lantern though as I'm a HUGE Spectre fan and he's in it. Secret Warriors is always a good read but I'm waiting for it to finish up. The book's run its course. Chaos War: X-Men is something I"m looking forward to. Yeah, I don't plan on finishing Chaos War, but this has Banshee in a staring role so I'm hooked!

Those first two issues of X-23 showed a little promise, especially with her getting back with some members of the New X-Men; but, things have taken a HUGE downturn. I wouldn't bother with it, JH. She's now off on her own, and it really feels like a bad direction for her and this book. If I were you, I'd shell out the money for Spider-Girl. Tobin is a really good writer, and I think you'd enjoy the innocence he brings to this book. (Kind of like how I like the innocence of Batgirl.)

I just have no interest in Spider-Girl. Maybe it's the Spider-Man connection but I really have absolutely no interest in even buying it... which is sad because I do love Batgirl and that's an honorable book to be compared to.

As for X-23, I skimmed all previous issues an they did interest me, mostly due to the New X-Men kids, but I also have just always liked X-23. And despite his oversaturation in the 90's, I really miss a good Gambit story so I'm interested with him showing up in this next arc. They're doing more with him now than they have in a decade and that's not saying much. This Death thing is boring me because nothing's coming of it but the Gambit/Storm Curse of the Mutants oneshot got me missing the old fashioned Gambit.

I have to say, as someone who also had little interest in Arana/Spider-Girl until lately and who only read Paul Tobin's work in some back up strips in stuff like HERCULES: FALL OF AN AVENGER, I must say I didn't regret trying out SPIDER-GIRL #1, and I will likely be there for the remaining five issues. If you had to pick that or X-23, I'd pick that.

(It's an ongoing, but I will be stunned if it lasts to a 7th issue. Call me a cynic.)

But I like X-23 so there's actually a connection to the character there. I have no interest in Arana. Besides, I'd feel dirty buying a Spider-Man book, even if it didn't have Spider-Man in it. With how little Marvel respects the character's history I feel no desire to support what they put out for him and his supporting cast. Just no interest there any longer.

Slim pickings this week, especially if those "maybes" turn out to be "not so muches." It's good, though, since I'll be out of town for this week. Less stuff cluttering up my pull file when I get back to my comic shop the week after.
