The New Ghostbusters - Part 5

Random question; Have they said how the ghosts are gonna look in this movie? Because as much as I love the first two movies, the types of ghosts ranged from cartoonish to lifelike humans.

The kids were like "What the *****!? You're not the Ghostbusters!"

Nope. The kids were like "what's Ghostbusters?"

Don't be delusional. When there wasn't been a new movie or cartoon in over 20 years, NO children of today know "Ghostbusters" from "Magnum PI."

My reaction if I was one of the people at that hospital:

"Ummm.. I was told the ghostbusters would be here"

Well that's just a sad failure of parenting
I wasn't born when GB came out, but by time I was 4 I knew every word by heart
this friggin' generation of parents man... weak

...I didn't know part of being a good parent was shoving your fandom down your kids' throats and forcing them to be just like yourself. Brainwashing them to be fans of dead franchises.

And furthermore, I hate to break this to some people, but average people (people who aren't fanboys, you know?), amounting to probably 90-95% of the populace, don't care about "Ghostbusters" either, aside from light amounts of "Oh yeah. Good movie" or "I heard of it... never seen it."

Regular people don't have the same brain as the rest of ya. Average people don't maintain reverence for a dead franchise, 20+ years deceased. Hell, my generation is just as clueless about GB as today's kids are. I was the only fan of it I knew of when I was a kid.

alright calm down there son
it was what we around these here parts call a "joke"

"god, fanboys suck, let me go on a comic blog and rant about how out of touch they are"

..................
but anyway, to go off your point, kids don't follow blogs to know who's playing the new Ghostbusters, so why would they give a **** when these four women showed up in crappy looking janitor outfits????

Which GB team you affiliated with Jango? I'm hoping to join the vancouver/BC family

Not really affiliated with a team. Haven't found anything in my area of NC. I do have a few friends that have suits and packs and we've gotten together for stuff before.

My kids know Ghostbusters, but the concept is pretty cool and Real Ghostbusters appealed to them. That being said, I randomly show them leaked pictures from the new film and they deduced they were making a new film and got excited. Plus, the actresses visited the hospital because the kids put a sign in the window saying, "Who're you gonna call?" So I'm sure some of the kids knew who they were supposed to be.

they probably put the sign up cuz some orderly just showed them the original :woot:

Ghostbusters is a classic film that parents show their kids because it was a good film with a cool concept and it holds their interest due to the SciFi fantasy. I wasn't born 20 years within Psycho, Wizard of Oz or Peter Pan but everyone I knew growing up was well aware of those films. Ghostbusters was huge, a film and franchise like that becomes part of our pop culture. It's still in the top 100 domestic films of all time even unadjusted. Star Wars, Indy and ET are the only other films from the 80s who share that. "Regular" people know this film, and the majority of people in their 20s-60s loved it and still do.

These things don't disappear, especially when 80s and 90s kids that were the start of the pop culture blockbuster film marketing insanity became our modern (and very mainstream) geek culture and are now young parents. They want their kids to see the good films they did, that's not forcing them or whatever. They can make their own decisions and tell their parents to turn it off. Kids nowadays also have the internet at their disposal anytime. It's easy for any of them to realize what someone is talking about within 5 seconds on their tablets or phones.

There's always gonna be people who are not aware of things. But to say it's delusional to think a child would not be aware of something that's older then them is a pretty far off statement. Let alone something that is still being talked about and has a neat appeal like proton packs and ghosts. They have access to watching and learning more then we ever did growing up.

You sound like the one being delusional.

I was born after both Ghostbusters movies and TV show came out and I know who they are.

The movies are still constantly being re-played on television, on kids networks, etc. People wear the Ghostbusters logo t-shirt all over the place, there was a video game released not too long ago. Because a certain franchise doesn't a movie or TV show in it's series for a long time doesn't mean kids today don't know what it is.

When something is truly great, it stands the test of time forever. It gets passed down from generations.

The Wizard Of Oz is nearly 80 years-old and I guarantee you a lot of kids have seen that movie.

Stop me if this was discussed but who's going to do the theme? My guess: Taylor Swift will do a cover with a music video featuring her "squad" and will have cameos from the cast. Am I on the money here?

I'm not sure I get it..why Taylor Swift?

Because she is a symbol of "Girl Power" and all that stuff in this day and age and according to some fans(see every Facebook comment in any post and the Dorky article about the movie) they feel the movie is a girl power message. Therefore Taylor Swift might actually be appropriate lol.

I agree that it will be a female singer... but not Swift.

I would put money on: Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, or Miley Cyrus.

Hah, I could just see Miley humping Slimer and using the wand from the proton packs to rub one out

That image is fantastically disturbing. I'm going to watch Disney Jr all day in an attempt to flush it from my brain.
