The New Ghostbusters - Part 8

The thing about the new Fall Out Boy song is that even if this had been a proper Ghostbusters III, it probably still would have been used anyway to revamp the original song. Remember the Run DMC version from Ghostbusters II?
Exactly! And this new version sounds much more like the Run DMC version, which makes sense because of the legal troubles surrounding Ray Parker Jr.'s ripoff of Want a New Drug.

Of all the prominent Ghostbusters follow up themes I can think of (Run DMC's, On Our Own, and the GB Extreme theme), Fall Out Boy's is by far the worst.

That song is representative of how tone deaf this whole mess has been.

Not arguing that. The song is garbage.

This song is somehow the worst thing related to the movie so far. They really raised the bar on lowering the bar with this one.

Oh man raised the bar on lowering the bar, love it :funny:

Is this new theme actually gonna be in the movie?

Listening to this theme just annoys me, the Original Theme is still a catchy classic to this day while this is not catchy, maybe it would take a little while to get used too as it's clearly not as hated as the first trailer was so a fair amount do appreciate this version but to me the lyrics do not zing the same way in this new theme, it just sounds like a mess on the original theme.

With Sony and the makers of this movie it feels like they are just doing everything wrong, the Nostalgia is less pleasing and more just whacking you over the head

I was thinking of seeing this movie out of pure curiosity but i don't know if i want too, i think i'd just be annoyed by every bit of Nostalgia they use to terrible degrees and early on i never thought this film would flop but sony are convincing me it could happen.

I'd go see the movie but I will get drunk beforehand and someone else has to pay for the ticket haha.

Yo Prince, what do you think of the new Fall Out Boy song?

Yeah the new song is bad but it's still better than the Run DMC crap from GB2 (and that comes from someone who loves Run DMC, otherwise).

Nah. Run DMC's was better.

Yeah, it lacks the fun and catchiness. Which is pretty much the whole point of the original theme.

One of summer's most anticipated — and debated — movies is taking shape in terms of its box-office potential.

Sony's Ghostbusters popped up on tracking Thursday, with early estimates suggesting a North American debut in the $40 million to $50 million range over the July 15-17 weekend. The studio, which has yet to wage its biggest and final marketing push, is no doubt hoping for the higher end, considering the movie cost a hefty $154 million to make.

Helmer Paul Feig ignited a firestorm in some social media circles when casting all women — Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones — as the Ghostbusters. In the original 1984 film, the supernatural investigators were famously played by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Harold Ramis.

More than any other director in Hollywood, Feig has focused on making femme-centric films in recent years, including the runaway hit Bridesmaids. And he has blamed geek culture for attacking his Ghostbusters simply because women are the stars.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sony movie studio chief Tom Rothman went even further, saying the controversy is "the greatest thing that ever happened." He added, "Are you kidding me? We're in the national debate, thank you. Can we please get some more haters to say stupid things?"

Females over the age of 25 are by far the most interested in seeing the new Ghostbusters, according to those with access to prerelease tracking. However, Sony has three weeks left to whip up additional interest among males and younger females.

They keep getting this whole thing wrong. Audiences isn't "attacking" because they are all women. Is because it doesn't-look-like-a-good-movie-at-all.
At this point, I think they're just saying the women stuff just to avoid criticism. And that is terrible.
