The New Ghostbusters - Part 9

Call me stubborn but I would much rather have an interesting story and characters who entertain me for 2 hours. I dont want a 2 hour commercial for pc progressive stuff just because they have to have it. If im paying $12 a ticket I want the story to be good. Good example is mad max fury road and bad example is this.

You can't have a story with interesting characters that's entertaining and still be diverse?! They aren't mutually exclusive. That's like with everyone that's so against the bigger push for diversity in film and television, no one's saying sacrifice quality by casting more diverse actors and actresses. You can do both!

Yeah, we had two more than 20 years ago. Why don't we shut up already? :whatever:

I know right. Those are always the go to answer every single time, and the ONLY ones, like that should be enough.

No, female youtubers are not who we have talked about. But a male youtuber is who everyone talked about when he spoke out he wouldn't watch the Movie. But that's apparently all youtube and the internet is, a sea of misogynists. Whenever women say something negative, the exact same thing a guy would say, no one bats a ****ing eye. But when a guy says it, instead of ignoring the pathetic little basement dweller he supposedly is, no, let's fan the flames. Let's show the entire world how pathetic this person is.

So again, yes, there are misogynists. But I entirely blame the media and marketing that it even got as big as it did. Because without any of the controversy, the Movie would have barely been talked about, like any of the other reboots no one wanted or cared about.

And with this I don't care to continue this conversation that goes nowhere any further.
This is two totally different arguments that contradict one another. It would have no attention unless the media hadn't brought attention? So you don't point out sexism when it exist? Just let it float on by? That isn't how you confront a problem like this. It is like just ignore the situation between cops and suspects. All we ever here is, "leave the police alone". Don't make it a big deal. But how does that solve anything?

Also, I thought this was like remaking Star Wars? Something so big, of course it caused a reaction?

And those happen in movies with women too, you know. We're not a gimmick, you know. :cwink:
Remember these two hours of PC Progressive crap danoyse?

Horrible with it's agendas. :o

Exactly. And if this movie is horrible, it is no different then all the other horrible films starting men in the genre. But they of course won't blame there being a male lead as the problem.

Also, I'm trying to figure exactly what the progressive agenda messaging is from Ghostbusters. Far as I can tell, the fact that they are female really doesn't have a huge effect on the story at all, so what is this agenda?

Any word on ticket sales? Or updated boxoffice tracking? (social media tracking hasn't changed in the last days)

No it didn't Spider-Fan. BvS did not get this reaction, even if it was simply down to the amount of DC fans there. When they busted out TDKR quote and the TDKR Batman symbol, people lost their minds in a good way. And even bad reactions could be traced back to obvious sources. Fans of a "competing" studio, dislike for MoS, etc.

Something like the Joker not being perma-white is a fanbase thing. The vast majority of people do not care or even know it is a thing. In my entire family, only my brother and I know it is a thing, and we have a lot of family. Casting women in the leads here is something that touches on a hot button topic in the US. A country that has one person standing between Donald Trump and the White House.

Ghostbusters is already reviewing far better then BvS or FF. It could fall off a cliff and still have a better RT score then the either of those easily. The BvS "hate" came with the reviews and then people actually seeing the movie.

The second they announced Affleck as Batman, Affleck HIMSELF talked about the negativity surrounding the announcement. It definitely started well before the trailers. Yes, the Joker example is a smaller scale example, but many times a character's race has been changed, and it was received well when the movie was actually screened. At the end of the day, a good product is going to stand out and over came any negativity surrounding it. Unfortunately, the good press for this particular movie is coming late in the ball game because they didn't showcase a good product. On the Fan4stic example, the Michael B. Jordan controversy surrounded the movie, but ultimately it was the movie's own quality, poor marketing, etc that sank it. Not the controversial casting choice. If this movie flops, I won't blame them casting a female Ghostbuster's team. At the end of the day, I feel like the majority is fine with female Ghostbusters. I will blame the fact they didn't combat that with good trailers and put it in a position to fail from the point they started marketing it.

This is so insane I hope it's legit.

Lol trust me terminator 1-2 and mad max fury are classics in the action/scifi genre and never once have I Sat there and said "gee a lady is starring err". Those movies did it right, they built an interesting character regardless of sex and made a memorable story and thats it. They didn't go about it the way sony has which is my problem.

Casting women is enough. The funny thing is Fury Road has a legit feminist message. Just don't tell that to too many people. You will find one that freaks out and denies completely.

How have they "gone about it"? What does that mean?

I know, right? Anytime someone thinks diversity is a gimmick, detracts from the story, and diminishes the entertainment factor...I challenge them to try to find tickets to this at face value for the next year:

Yes they are though, sony from the leaked emails until now has botched the handling of this movie. I dont remember WB making a big deal with mad max, they made the movie and let the story speak for itself.

Affleck and Jesse got plenty of grief. It was in fact a big deal. This was of course the casting of Batman. Plenty of people have an opinion on Affleck. There was also plenty of support for any decision they made, because DC has its fans.

Would any marketing for this movie had changed sexist opinions? Not everyone, just those who brought a sexist component to the situation?

Again, how have they made a big deal out of it? It's been the complainers that have doing that.
