What is Star Wars, Starfighter?

I shall combine Die Hard and Working Girl... I shall call it Working Hard. :o

So is the premise that a "working girl" gets trapped in a five star hotel with terrorists while she's with a client, and they are holding the building hostage, but she turns out to have a military background and knows how to use guns and can create improvised explosives?

You're right... I guess you could say this premise is Hardly Working. 😎

Hell no Fan4stic couldn't have worked in another reality or another planet.

Nothing good ever comes from disregarding and disrespecting the source material.
As bad as Fant4stic is, I have a hard time saying that it disregards or disrespects the source material. It's just a ****ty attempt of doing something different with it.

Even if it did do those things, that's hardly an issue. There's plenty of adaptions that resent/disregard the source material and are great. The Shining being the prime example.

Very true, and everything is case by case, but that 2015 thing was not the Fantastic Four. Just as outside of Logan, Xavier and a few other characters, those Fox movies weren’t the X-Men.

I get doing something different, but when you take liberties with an established IP and don’t bring the family dynamics, have a cast with chemistry, or have the heart and soul of what makes the source material great even when you’re going for gritty realism or whatever, you failed.

And in other news this really breaks my heart:

Was it truly that difficult to hire a talented hopefully black writer to cook up SOMETHING for Mahershala Ali and Delroy Lindo?!

And then bring on Jordan Peele or Regina King to direct?!

It’s too early. :o

The biggest issue with that 2015 movie wasn't a "disrespect" for the material. It was a terrible lead creative who was busy melting down.

I also don't get these kind of things when it comes to the "source material" of comics. Comics have so much trash. So much. Could easily be argued you could find plenty of that take in the F4 comics. Would that make it better?

Yes. Because the guy you're putting faith in to make F4 awesome, is the guy who wouldn't give the necessary control to such talent with pull.

Also, just weighing in: while I loved the final episode of Born Again, I have one major gripe. How do you use the song “Killing Me Softly With His Song” and not use the incomparable Ms Lauryn Hill rendition?

It’s Fugees or nothing for me.

While I agree with you because I too love the Fugees, but Roberta Flack just died and was a legend good sir!

Gotta pay respect. :o

I feel like the Fugees’ careers were killed by the types of people that the Punisher-fanboy corrupt cops represented.

I bought tickets for their reunions tour show in Cincinnati last fall and the show was cancelled for lack of sales. Seriously. How can there be a lack of sales for a Fugees reunion???

I would place Lauryn Hill on my personal Mount Rapmore.

I love and grew up on Lauryn Hill, but I heard too many horror stories about her live to be able to spend money on a concert with her.

But for sure, she’s up there with Lyte, Latifah and Foxy. :o

Her MTV Unplugged was absolute fire.

“Mystery of Iniquity” is sobering and should’ve brought slam poetry back en vogue.

It’s the modern day version of “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.”

Happy Easter, Hypesters!

I'm working today but for those who have the day off, enjoy 🥳

On a side note, I recently saw the Superman extended preview and the full-length Fantastic Four trailer and both look excellent. I can't remember the last summer movie season that looked this promising. And 2026 looks pretty damn exciting too, with Doomsday, Supergirl, Brand New Day, and Clayface all on deck...

Good time to be a CBM fan. Here's hoping the general public comes out to support these films too. I'd like to see this little hobby of ours extended a bit longer :yay:

Seeing you post here reminds me that I owe a thank you to @Batgirl0202, @DKDetective, and all of the other Canadian hypesters for a lovely time that my family spent in your beautiful country two weeks ago. We went to Niagara Falls and to Toronto on vacation and we really loved it. (Even though my two teenage boys apparently took an excursion to visit Drake’s mansion got chased off from standing in the driveway taking pictures in front of “The Embassy” by Drake’s security guards.) There’s some truly lovely people who are our neighbors to the north.

Should have told me you were here! Could have recommended some sights and restaurants. My wife and I were even in Toronto for the weekend two weeks ago. Could have taken you and the Mrs. out for drinks or something while your boys were looking for Drake!

Glad you had a great time here!
