*The New Superhero Cinematic Civil War Thread - Part 61

It's certified fresh at 88% right now so you're probably in the clear.
Biggest fear is whether critics only enjoy it because Marvel's current output outside Deadpool wasn't the best.

I feel like if it was a legitimate disappointment they wouldn't be afraid to tear it down. Even Deadpool & Wolverine only got a lukewarm reception from critics, which is fair since it's a fun movie to watch but the plot is a mess.

Amazing how I didn't care that ScaJo got fridged in Endgame, but after Black Widow, I was pissed she was gone.
I was very bummed she stayed bummed. I loved her and Banner together. :(

Really glad to see all the positive reviews for Thunderbolts and hopefully it translates to it doing way better than expected at the BO this weekend.

I'd love to see it breakout and carry the positive momentum going into F4.
I'd love to see it do better than Suicide Squad. I love bad guy teams especially with Marvel people in them.

She’s had an interesting career to say the least. She’s always “almost” a star, having been in so many properties.

But I can never forgive her for that awful Wonder Woman pilot which may very well be the absolute worst superhero adaptation I’ve ever seen.

Thank goodness that wasn’t picked up.

Well, good thing for WB, I don't think Superman is make or break for them. Between Minecraft, Sinners, and likely Final Destination, they will probably be sitting pretty this year.

I've been a big believer that Thunderbolts would be better than expected so I'm cautiously optimistic that I wont be eating crow if the critical reception keeps its current momentum.
I have this uncanny sense where, when I see a trailer for a movie or TV series and I get a certain feeling that it’s going to be something to watch for, it’s usually on point. For example, when I saw the first teaser for Spider-Man: ITSV, I thought to myself, “This feels like it’s going to be special.” And, right after coming out of the theater, seeing the film, I thought, “I think I just saw the future of animation.“ And, of course, the past seven years have proven that. I even sort of predicted a few years earlier the film itself when I proposed to someone in a conversation about animated films made with CG but made to look slightly 2D, after I saw the “Paperman” short film in front of “Wreck-It Ralph” in theaters.

Seeing who was attached to write and direct and the critical acclaim their previous work got, and the fact that it was the first project made under the new studio mandates, I had a feeling that this was not going to be like a lot of the other recent MCU’s output. I feel the same way about Fantastic Four: First Steps. A bit wary of Doomsday and Secret Wars, which is not a good sign.

Hope this is a sign of things to come for future projects.

Knowing how particular your film tastes are, I’m taking this as a ringing endorsement.

Oooh, that’s a three hit combo if I ever did see.

I don't have high hopes for Doomsday and Secret Wars either at the moment. If the Russos and McFeely had been brought in to salvage Kang Dynasty and a Kang-centric version of Secret Wars, I'd feel more optimistic about how those would turn out myself.

I think it was, GOOD that Marvel scrapped their plans with, Kang.
In his debut, he was defeated by, ANT MAN!
