"It will pick up once Summer comes round, everyone's on vacation at the moment; it's always like this at this time of year. It'll pick up."

It didn't pick up, I see. :(

(See if this won't fix it.)

The rosters have been updated, to an extent. I got rid of the people who've dropped out and made room for anyone who wants to join, but there are still several characters who haven't been posted for in a long time (a fact I myself am guilty of, with Hal Jordan). So the deal is simple - whoever wants to keep their characters, who haven't already posted within the last week or so, have until Monday to post. After that, I'll be removing the ones that haven't so that they can be claimed anew.

Sorry if this comes at any inconvenience, but we need some more people up in this 'binnis.

Do you think the wider choice of RPGs these days has contributed to the decline in participation in them?

That sounded a lot more like an essay question than I intended.

Maybe, but I'm not entirely sure. At my best guess, I would think it's that, but coupled with the increase in school related, work related, and general day-to-day related priorities. Times are getting tougher all around.

Though to be honest, alot of the target demographic for these games has been high school and college students, so it could be a school related thing more than anything else. That's why summers are usually the best time for activity.

Added with the fact we seems to lose more RPers than we ever gain new ones, and that could explain the slump. Also the wide variety of RPGs can do more harm than good sometimes, forcing folks to try to manage their time the best they can. Not everyone can or wants to join a new RPG just because you want to start it. *coughs*DC:1870*coughs* :csad:

I hope the situation with your grandmother improves.
Thanks, man. She's out of the hospital now but that's just one of many problems solved regarding her situation.

Anyway, I'm caught up now and I hope to get back to a once a week post at least. Sorry again for my absence. I can't believe I hadn't posted as Jason since December! :wow:

No! I refuse to do table top RPGs! :cmad:

You know you want to...the HP, the Mana....the heavenly glory of rolling a Natural 20...the bittersweet pain of rolling a 1....making crude advances towards the Elf chick...heed the call, Byrd! It calls for thee!

It's a good thing that I didn't understand one word of that, right?

I'll keep my glorified fanfics, thank you very much.

Pretty up to date, if not 100% up to date....for the most part, barring a few dropped characters. Like, I'd say the dude who played Captain Atom is gone, and JB has dropped off the map. But other than that, seems to be accurate.
I'm kind of worried that I might be responsible for the Capt. Atom guy's absence. He was a pretty regular poster, but then I tried to steer him away from making his character into another Superman rogue, instead of a developed character in its own right (according to his app, his only real goal seemed to be to have a JLU-type fight with Superman, even though kryptonite and red sun crap haven't been discovered yet in the UDCU. Illogically foreshadowing a fight seemed to be all that his posts ever focused on). And that was the last that we saw of the poster. :csad:

Okay you bastards. What the hell's been going on with Arkham Asylum since I left? Anything at all?

The inmates, doctors, and guards all had a massive orgy...except Crane. He didn't get to come (pun)

Killer Moth escaped from Arkham and just got foiled by Batgirl and Atom. I figured my next Todd post will deal with him being readmitted to the Asylum. Besides that, nothing much, broham.

. Application .

. THE NEW ULTIMATE DC RPG .
Character Application

.Screen name: Green Lantern

.Character you wish to portray: Richard "Dick" Grayson

.Hero, villain, or walking the line?: At this point, Walking The Line

.Powers and physical attributes: A very physically active young man. He's involved in a lot of athletics, and an accomplished martial artist with a green belt in Jiu-Jitsu.

.Origin and backstory (as you see it): Dick's the son of John and Mary Grayson. John was a detective for the Gotham City Police Department. When Dick was ten, his mother was diagnosed with cancer, one that acted fast, taking her from him and his father in six months. Dick threw himself into his study of jiu-jitsu. As his father worked with Batman to take down Tony Zucco, Dick withdrew into himself socially. Things came to a head on his father's investigation, and things wound up looking like Batman was responsible for the detective's death. Dick was put in an orphanage, until he was taken in by Ms. Harriet Cooper, a resident in the penthouse suites at Wayne Tower.

.The burning question - Why this character?: Well... I've always liked Robin, have ALWAYS had a soft spot for this RPG, and MB bribed me.

.How will this version of your character differ from others? How will it be Ultimate?: Well, the circumstances for his father's death are a lot different, and I see this version of Dick as more of today's brash and disrespectful teenager. Kinda like Jason Todd, but cooler.

.What do you believe you can bring to the RPG?: Experience and dashing good looks.

.Provide a sample post as the character you wish to portray, in three paragraphs or more: "Well here we are Dick. Your first day at Brentwood. Hopefully it helps your grades. They've really been slipping. You're just lucky Mr. Wayne was able to get you into this school, its the best one in the city."

Great. Just what I wanted. To be ripped from my friends, my teammates, my whole ****ing social circle.

Mrs. Cooper let Dick out of the car, and watched as he went into the esteemed building. As he went in, he passed a group of guys in sweaters.

"Oh hey look, its a new kid! Whats your name bud?"

"Name's Dick Grayson. Who wants to know?"

"Easy man. Calm yourself. Just a friendly question. My name's Roy. This is John, and Jeff. We'll guide you around if you want."

"Guys got a good football team?"

"We don't have one. We have the defending state champion polo team though. Want to see the stables?"

"F**k that noise. That's preppy bull ****. I'm out of this hell hole."

The one Roy introduced as Jeff tried to grab Dick as he walked off, but Roy stopped him. "Like we want to deal with a new kid anyway guys, let him go."

Dick stormed out the back of the building to the pristine lawns. He waited until the security was looking the other way and took off towards the front fence, quickly climbing over and dropping down to the other side. On the way to the Academy, he had noticed a Hypermart, and he hadn't gotten the new Bleeding Ferrets CD yet. So as the opening day bell rang out at the school a block away, Dick was already well on his way to the store.

He entered the store getting a weird look from the people greeter, as he was in his uniform and playing hooky from school. Unbeknownst to him, they got a lot of people skipping from Brentwood, usually not there to shop, so the elderly lady contacted the store's security guard immediately. Dick walked straight back to the electronics department and grabbed the CD he wanted along with a couple of DVDs. He walked across the store to the men's clothing department and used his mechanical pencil to open all the cases and slip the disks out and into his pocket. He then walked up front and right out the same door, when he saw a guy in a Metal Militia shirt step in front of him. Cool band, but the guy looks like a loser.

"Hi kid, I'm Elliott with Hypermart security, how bout we go to my office?"

"Screw you!"

Dick tried to run, but the guy grabbed him by the shoulder and squeezed hard on a pressure point, dropping the teen to his knees. He then walked Dick a few steps away, opening a door in the entry way. He sat Dick down on a bench and started asking him questions.

"Only 14 huh? Thats a bonus for you. We'll just get your information and call your parents, and then when they come, you're free to go."

"Good luck, ass clown."

"Hey, watch it. Now which parent do I call?"

"Got a line to the afterlife?"

"Listen kid, you're testing my patience. Who's in charge of you?"

"Me."

"You don't start answering me, and you're going to JSC. You want that?"

"Better than Brentwood."

"No, its really not. Now one last chance, who do I need to call?"

"Fine. Harriet Cooper. You can get her at Wayne Tower."

The guard called up the number he found in the phone book and talked to Ms. Cooper.

"Well, bud, sounds like you're in for it when she gets here. She didn't sound all that happy."

.Do you know how to post pictures on the Hype?:

Yes.

You're approved.

Glad to have you back, you bastard. :cmad:
