In Amazing Spider-Man #654, the symbiote, now in the possession of the US government, is assigned to a young soldier who lost his legs in the Middle East. He'll use it to carry out secret Black Ops missions for the government all over the world, though is only allowed to equip the suit in 48 hour intervals to avoid being driven insane by it.

Why does the Spider-Man universe have so much trouble stepping outside of their cast of supporting characters??? I like the concept here because Venom did indeed grow stale but Flash as Venom? Really? Too many characters with ties to Peter Parker is simply too dumb to believe. :down

I dunno... Flash Thompson, greatest Spider-Man fan... becomes Venom, arguably one of Spider-Man's greatest foes...

Sounds pretty cool...

:yay:

Aloha,
We already know that his time as Venom is limited but with built in danger.Flash is not the first one to be used in this experiment.
The first guy didn't make it out alive.
Can't please everyone. Many were complaining that Spidey's classic supporting cast was not being used enough. Some where complaining about the new BND/Big Time supporting cast not being developed enough.
Spidey rules

I can;t wait to see Betty's reaction...

I read in an interview with Rick Remender that his identity will be a secret to everybody else, for the time being that is.

Anyway, preview for ASM#654.1. I'm loving the secret-agent Flash/Venom already. :word: Anybody catch that line about Flash 'knowing a cha-cha from a waltz'? Just like that one line from AF#15.

^^ Agreed! That preview looks great.

I'm really loving this new route Remender has decided to take with the Venom character. He's reinveneting the wheel in a good way if you ask me. People may complain, but if you ask me, it's the best thing being done with the Venom character in a while.

Eugene doesn't have a tongue yet, that's cool

I knew only 3 things about Green Lantern:
1 - He wore green
2 - The colour Yellow hurts him
3 - Kyle & Hal are his names....

I don't know which is which or what they look like...

The first Spider-Man movie spoiled the Green Goblin's identity, i have a few friends that were turned off because the reveal was spoiled by news reports....

It's not like Green Goblin's identity in the movie was ever meant to have the big Scooby Doo reveal. That's like someone saying they don't want to know if the Decepticons are the good guys or bad guys till they see Transformers.

I don't think it's a spoiler unless you completely stay away from any and all forms of media relating to the subject. A quick google search on GL will give you his wiki entry which would tell you Sinestro was one of his main villains for decades and that there have been several humans who are GLs. The color yellow no longer affects them, either.

Wasn't kinda the initial charm of Spider-Man that he was secretly an ordinary guy with ordinary friends and family. What makes him special if every single person he knows is secretly a hero or villain? Harry was the Green Goblin, Ned Leeds was kinda the Hobgoblin, so was Phil Urich, Flash is now Venom, Liz's stepbrother is Molten Man and so on.... can't any villain just be a nobody these days? That doesn't mean they have to be bland. Look at Eddie Brock, a character created from the ground up, who had no prior connection to Peter Parker, but was interesting and dangerous all the same.

Why should i do that? i don't want to know about the character, i like batman but have no interest in reading the comics.
The on DC stuff i ever read was Superman from a few months before he died until just after he came back.
My DC knowledge is only based off of the media stuff, Movies & TV, be it animated or Live action...

If you don't want to know about the character, I'd suggest closing yourself off from any and all forms of media. When a movie is coming out, awareness is going to be raised regarding about the source material and that includes details about the main character and their villains.

This. If you cook in a kitchen you might get burned. Likewise, don't complain if a notorious comic/movie site on the internet tells you (extremely trivial) details about an upcoming movie. :whatever: I also don't believe ben_reilly when he says he has "friends" who were turned off the Spider-Man movie because it told them the Green Goblin was Norman Osborn. That was never a secret in the film. Everyone knew Norman was GG from the moment GG first appeared... which was about 15 minutes into the movie.

ben_reilly, you also admit you have little interest in Green Lantern. So why do you care so much if the name of the villain was spoiled for you? I think you just enjoy complaining about things. That's okay, so do I.

On an unrelated note Thor, you have an awesome font.

You can't even call it a spoiler. A lot of this information is considered common knowledge unless you aren't truly a comic fan, and are more of a fan of characters. Honestly, how long has Sinestro been a villain in the GL series? More than a decade, I can tell you that much. He was a villain when I was a child, and I am nearly thirty years old.

I also saw you mention the Green Goblin's identity being "spoiled" for your friends, because of news casts. Honestly, considering that Norman Osborn's identity was well established in the 70s after he killed Gwen Stacy, and established again in the popular 90s animated series, I don't see how anyone could not be aware of his identity.

Were they also shocked to find out Peter Parker was Spider-man?!

:awesome:

[BLACKOUT]Peter's Uncle Ben gets shot... by a burglar!!! :wow:[/BLACKOUT]

You're right! I dont believe it!

LIES. ALL LIES. :wow:

Ok, i've seen most of the DCAU series and D2DVD movies, i do not ever recall seeing sinestro... If he was in the Green Lantern movie I didn't see it on purpose cause i heard it was an origin and i knew that the Live-Action was was coming out and that that would be an origin one as well and wanted to stay away from as many spoilers as possible..
My complaint is not about spoilers in general, just that they shouldn't be the headline to an article....

I think it is bad when a film review spoils an ending or a critical piece of evidence. But in general, a review is going to discuss a movie. It is hard to provide a critical movie review without actually discussing the material in question. Then again, it is hard to try and use a review to gauge whether or not you should see a movie, if it is going to spoil the movie. That is why I tend to ignore reviews in general. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. But, I can accept the reason why you feel as you do.

Reilly, come on, man. Everyone knows Sinestro is GL's main villian. He's on the cover of about a hundred or so issues. Besides, it's not like the movie will suck because you know that. It may suck regardless. DC doesn't have the best track record. For every Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, there is a Superman Returns and a Catwoman.

As for the Green Goblin, you're friends have issues. Perhaps some stronger testing or more attention from their teachers could have prevented them from winding up this way. Honestly, if that ruined the movie for them, then they were going to hate it anyway.

NOW, as for New Venom, I think it could work. I miss Eddie/Venom, but this could be a nice little break from slobberin' Venom. See what happens when someone a little more heroic (ala Spidey) chooses to KEEP IT. This could be interesting.

This book is actually amazing. Flash/Venom is already a more 3 dimensional character than Brock/Venom.

I have yet to read the issue, but I hear it's getting great reviews...
