He did say it was down to Asa and Tom last week or something like that. So, maybe he is already cast. I agree though and would think the actor would need to do research and probably bulk up a bit. Tough to do all of that in one month

It's either those two, or at least someone in that age range.

I'm still having a hard time believing Marvel hasn't cast the new Spider-Man yet...

Hammering out a deal with an actor and his agency takes long enough, they sat on the Benedict Cumberbatch rumors for months (plural) and he didn't even put pen to paper until 3 days before the actual, official announcement that he would play Doctor Strange.

Not only that, but then you gotta physically design suits (plural) that perfectly fit the unique bodies of the actor and the stuntmen, which is a long process by the way. And is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Then you gotta get him acquainted with his surroundings and prep him with the script. And then start shooting.

Spider-Man will be needed on set in June. I doubt they'd be able do all of this in the span of that short amount of time.

At the same time they wont want to rush such a pivotal casting.

He started filming a movie, is not even in the US, yet he met with Marvel last week. Okay...

"Meeting with Marvel" is a lot broader than you might realize. I do believe that Marvel contacted him and that he's one of the top contenders. "How" and "When" is a different story. Think Chalamet and James were also contacted, and while I still hope that Chalamet will get to audition, I'm not holding my breathe.

So? he could have EASILY flew to the USA and met with Marvel, not a problem at all, just take two days out of filming for him. one day to discuss contracts and stuff like that.

We live in the internet age, and Marvel could easily go to him through someone on their staff.

Agree. Doesnt take long to go by plane and he wouldnt be needed on set every day anyway. This is Marvel we are talking about and he is going to jump through hoops if needed.

Or they could have even sent someone to where he is filming. Like Ward supposedly auditioned at his own home.

Yes, because it takes one day to discuss contracts. It took 2 months for Ben Cumberbatch to put pen to paper.

Difference been that's Spider-Man, not Dr. Strange. The actor getting it will either take it or leave it.

Yes, that's what I meant with "and Marvel could easily go to him through someone on their staff.
".

That was his choice. one has nothing to do with the other. and it's not like he's being officially cast like Cumberbatch.

Marvel could have sent someone to his set OR he could have flew to the USA for a few days.
