it's starting to feel like that the casting of Peter is gonna be like when Ben Affleck was cast as Batman. It's probably someone who really has to prove himself to be worthy of the role. I mean, I'm not a casting agent so I don't know how to to dig up candidates like the professionals do, but still it seems like there's no perfect teen age Peter Parker out there. Dylan's my favorite choice from everyone that has been mentioned, but even then he's like... 70% of what I want from the actor portraying this character

If it's like Ben Affleck as Batman, then chances are I'll like the actor playing Spider-Man. :funny:

I was the only person in my film and video class (at the time) who was defending Ben in the role against my teacher and multiple other students.

So based on the actors who have actually displayed interest in the role(other than Lerman and O'Brien). I've assembled a list.

1. Asa
2. Tom Holland
3. Josh Hutcherson
4. Freddie Highmore

Did I miss any actors, I think I missed a couple.
Have you got a link to where Holland stated his opinion?

I wonder when Isaac will say something. The support for him is big enough to gain some notice.
What I'm interested in knowing is this:

Say we get an actor who is of average looks but a great, young talent and he gets picked for the role.

After many months of complaining about how he doesn't resemble the Status quo Peter Parker and defending that his acting is ultimately what sells him, we finally see him in the role and he blows everyone away with his portrayal of the popular character.
I believe Asa will manage to do this.

I'm sure many of the choices would manage to do it and do it well, honestly. Here's hoping someone mentioned on here gets it.

Barry Parker: Thanks for the link :)

Regarding the casting: I just got to think of James Franco. He tried out for the lead but was cast as Harry instead. Who to say it won't happen again sometime, when casting a superhero. Doesn't need to be specifically Spider-Man, but I''m sure you understand my point.

With the bunch of actors being discussed here, this thing is actually worth bringing up. Almost all of the favorites can audition for PP but be cast as another character that suits better.
It's like aiming for gold and get the silver medal instead. Which isn't too bad.

Yeah, I mean it happens even beyond superhero flicks

I love the choice of Ben Affleck too actually :D But I was referring to the general reaction

have you seen Gone Girl yet? I liked Ben Affleck relatively much before, but that movie totally cranked up my excitement for BvS to 11 :oldrazz:

Gone Girl is fantastic. :woot:

Ben Affleck is a perfect example that even choices that people are generally against may surprise you. Don't rule them out because you don't like it. Give it a chance.

What I'm interested in knowing is this:

Say we get an actor who is of average looks but a great, young talent and he gets picked for the role.

Why do you think ugly/weird-looking actors are the only ones who have acting talent? The better looking ones are as if not more talented than the other ones.

If one of the actors you don't like gets cast and gives a great performance what will you say?

There it is again, a poster who call certain actors ugly and weird. STOP THIS!

And why, Johnny-Oh, do you think than a "handsome" actor could more talented than the ones who look different?

This happened with Sebastian Stan as well, he auditioned for Cap and ended up playing Bucky.

Why are you so offended that I call them weird?

No otherwise my list of candidates would be way longer, there is only two actors I would love for the role and haven't fully supported someone solely based on looks so you're wrong.

Exactly.
The actor doesn't have to look like a weirdo (Max Records) or ugly (Kodi McPhee) in order to be a good actor

The better looking ones are as talented as the other ones, if not even more talented. Is that what you claim?

And no, Kodi, Asa and Isaac are NOT ugly!
