Farkle?
I've explained several times why I think it's a better choice to go with a younger actor. Feel free to think differently, but that's how I feel about this subject, I want a teenager playing a teenager because it makes sense and it would be fresh, different of the two older actors playing high schoolers that we've got before. I just don't see anything on these actors older than 20 that justify them getting the role instead of actual teenagers, and the reports tell us that's how Marvel is thinking too.![]()
You have many excellent points, but the one I bolded is so RIGHT ON. Another good comparison is Aaron-Taylor Jonhnson's Quicksilver; I'm guessing the character is supposed to be about ATJ's actual age, which is only a year older than Dylan O'Brien. But he just looks older than Dylan, especially the facial hair he sports for the part. Clean shaven, mussy haired Dylan looks years younger than him even though it's only one.
Thomas could be a great Harry Osborn.

Well, you haven't really elucidated in our conversation. I mean, here's what I've gotten:
- it makes sense
- it would be different / fresh
- age will be a problem later
- the actor can grow into the role
So, it just seems like sort of thin gruel to me. Maybe you've elaborated in greater detail in posts I haven't read; I'm just going off the posts where you've talked with me. But none of those reasons to me seem like the sort of thing that would lead you to rule out someone in their early-20s dispositively. I mean, let's say we aren't talking about O'Brien but a hypothetical actor in their early 20s. If there were an actor that age, who looked as young as, say, Asa Butterfield or Tom Holland or whoever, and he fit the part perfectly (by your standards, not necessarily mine), would you still not be interested based solely on his age?

Spoilered for anyone who is on a media black-out, but you're definitely right. I wouldn't have guessed that he's only 24. He could pass for the same age as the the 30 - 35 year old Marvel Chrises.
I honestly don't have a firm idea of what Harry should be like. I've seen him portrayed different ways in different comics or television shows so I'm very flexible on that casting. As long as the person they cast fits well with the characterization, I'm probably happy.
I don't really see him as a potential Peter, though. He doesn't have that je ne sais quoi.
Well he's definitely a candidate, given his connections to Disney (playing Farkle on Girl Meets World).Hell yeah I wanna see him go up on stage in full costume and unmask himself like

I've seen his name popping around on twitter by some people saying he'd be a good fit for Spidey, then I've tracked down his twitter and I know that I could be completely off, but my "spider sense" is telling me that this dude is indeed at least auditioning for the part.

Yeah, he could do 3 trilogies for Marvel.Hed be downright amazing. Spectacular even, maybe even superior to the rest! He can do 2 high school trilogies, easy
That dude looks WAY too old to play a teenager.I know right? Just goes to show anyone can pull off the role if they're passionate and educated enough about the character.
Thats the point, man. The audience has to inequivocally know that this is an authentic teenager! And on the farkle kid I said it they other day he is far far to short for the role and I couldn't see with the way his body in and his body frame he could put any muscle on that. And he would be drawfed by all the avengers even scarlo.
Again, he's only 15! he still has 8 more years to grow and develop. And on the farkle kid I said it they other day he is far far to short for the role and I couldn't see with the way his body in and his body frame he could put any muscle on that. A reminder to everyone....you can discuss, debate, and argue issues....but there is never a reason to resort to name calling. Post civilly.
The biggest thing we do have to remember even if peter if 15 or 16 yrs old. We don't know what grade we are seeing in civil war and solo one. And if he is freshmen or sophomore by time solo one is out on 17. If they get sequel out by 19 he be junior or senoir. So even if they want to do teen peter. Even starting at freshmen yr for civil war and solo 1. By time time infinity 2 and solo 2 if both are out by 19. If they can get a 3rd solo out by 2020. Maybe we can get 3 solo and 3 mcu films as a teen. If not we have 3 mcu and 2 solo films as teen. They can't and I don't expect marvel to forever keep peter as a teen. Phase 3 we see him between 15 to 19 yrs old. And then phase 4 and on get him to ambiguous mid to late 20s age comics peter is. So really if they went with a 20s actor if he can pull off look for 15 to 19 peter for 3 mcu and 2 solos we should be fine. Cause by time phase 4 happens he will be adult age. No way to get around that with how time goes in mcu.
