Homecoming The Next Spider-Man - Part 9

I'd guess that with the right training, an actor can pull off playing Peter Parker until he is around 33-35 years old. Getting someone around the age of 18-19 could mean they'd be playing Spider-Man for 14-16 years. and the character would be at most at 30 -31 years old. One of the biggest reasons why I'm happy that they are casting younger.
I'd prefer Marvel cast a 15-17-year-old.
They could play the role at least five years longer than a 19 year old.

If Marvel finds someone that is 15-17 years old and they think he is the guy, then he is the guy. Marvel and Sony know what is at stake here.

If Farkle becomes the next Spider-Man, I might just boycott the rest of the MCU

Mateus Ward might not be the bestest of choices, at least in the teen department...but who is, if that's what Marvel are going for? Watching his stuff, he's really not that bad. He's got a couple awards under his belt and that has to mean something. I like his attitude and his voice is pretty decent for Spider-Man IMO. Puts the MAN element into real play :hehe:
He sounds like a smartass, almost pretentious at times, and that's what Peter can be at times.
And this pic...just imagine this is Peter and opposite him as Aunt May

He's good enough, and if he's picked, I would not complain in the slightest.

I do hope once actor is revealed marvel sony also gives us some more details on the role and there plans. So we can see if the pick is 15 to 19 range why he was picked. But if they go older 20 to 24 range again be nice to see the reasoning.

If Ward or anyone else is picked, it's because he killed in the audition, and I'm fine with whoever is cast.

I expect that the next 25 hours we'll get a lot of elaborate "reveals" of who is playing Spider-Man.

I trust in their casting decisions. They know exactly how perfect they have to get this.

He sounds like Spider-Man from the Ultimate Alliance games (Quentin Fly)
I could easily see civilians and his villains confusing him for an adult.

One can easily take that statement and apply it to someone who's 20-24.

An update on my Timothée Chalamet might be a contender because he is just too quiet on his instagram:

Since he started posting on instagram, he never skipped a month of posting, since April 2012. My theory is that the time that he went "silent" on twitter and instagram matches with when his agents could get him an audition for Spidey. I think that his age, the fact that he is a New Yorker and that he has the looks to play Peter Parker makes him a strong candidate, even if his name isn't showing up anywhere but on fancasting.

Regardless, if my hunch is accurate and he is indeed auditioning for Spidey, I wish him the best of luck, because I do can see him becoming Spider-Man. Here is his Variety's Youth Impact Report profile:

Since entering the industry, Chalamet has had executive roles, gaining fame by playing the vice president’s son Finn in the second season of Showtime’s political drama “Homeland.” Earlier this year the 18-year-old wrapped up filming for “The Adderall Diaries,” where he will play James Franco’s younger self. The teen will also be seen in Paramount’s upcoming pic “Men, Women and Children” and helmer Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi “Interstellar” alongside Matthew McConaughey. The budding actor was previously seen in the romantic comedy “Loving Leah” and the thriller “Clown.”

A lotvof people seem to think casting young is a good idea because then we can get a good 15 years of spiderman. I love this idea, don't get me wrong. I think the way the MCU is working, they can easily get 15 years out of it. However, I think we all know were dreaming when we imagine all superheros keeping the same actors for 15 years. By then I'm guessing most of the actors will have been replaced. I see no reason why Spider-Man can't be replaced with them. I know, it would be cool to keep the same actor. But even if they chose an actor who was 15 it isn't very likley they would want to, or be able to be spiderman for 15 years... by the end they will have been spidey for half their life! I would rather have a really good 20 yesr old portray a high school or graduating Peter, and allow them a good 5-10 films, a good 5-10 years at least, then have him recasted around the time others are recasted. I personally think it would be weird for peter to be 15 while working with the others. Why? Spider-Man sometimes throws sarcasm to poke fun at his fellow heroes. If he is too young, it looks more disrespectful. However if he is young and he doesn't say things like that, he wont be interacting like spiderman. I would rather it be an older highschooler, at least 16. I can see both sides of the argument, but in the end, a kid spiderman is not as fun. Sure, he's at least going to be a teen. I think marvel could pull off a young peter, but I would rather see an older peter if he is in Civil War or the IWs.

I agree, cast too young and it just doesnt really work as far as the interactions and fighting alongside the other heroes. A damn shame we wont ever get to see Andrew Garfield interact with RDJ, Ruffalo, Evans and the rest. With some of the Marvel writing, he would have been perfect, he had the comedic timing that is so important to the character. Whomever they cast he better have the comedic aspect.

It's April fool's day. Let the crap begin! :o

That Mateus Ward kid looks like he could do a good job.

I think the main problem with casting Peter Parker these days is that being a geek or nerd is deemed cool now. So if there's this good-looking kid who's supposed to be an outcast because he's a nerd, it just doesn't make any sense.

But equally, if you get someone who looks too nerdy and awkward, it wouldn't make sense that he could be with MJ or Gwen, and audiences won't take to him either. Would people really want to watch a whole franchise with the likes of Disney actors Joey Bragg or Mateo Arias?

There's a reason some people are leads in shows or movies, while others are nerdy sidekicks or supporting characters.

Even in a show like Chuck, which was all about nerds, Zachary Levi was still reasonably attractive and didn't look like Jeff or Lester:

I agree with you to an extent, but I would go for someone like Asa Butterfield. Just turned 18 today apparently, but I think he has the right balance.
