The Next Star Trek: Post-Dominion War or something New?

Here's a thread for anyone want to discuss the idea of a new trek TV series. Every so often this topic comes up, so here's the unofficial thread if I may be so bold to post it.

I definitely want to canon to continue. No prequel or interquel, time to see what happens to all the alpha quadrant powers after the end of the Dominion war. Hopefully, none of the story used in Star Trek Online is incorporated into the a new series. I don't like the idea of Undine(aka species 8472 from Voyager) infiltration causing a Federation/Klingon war. C'mon it is the same damn thing as the changeling infiltration

Yep. Could you imagine a Trek show that goes into greater detail on Kirk and Spocks history, which Abrams brushed over (which I understand, as it was a 2 hour film, which I loved )

I'd like one post DS9/ VOY so that those and other TNG characters could make guest appearances like we used to get from original Trek.

I'm not sure what the premise would be though. Another space exploration show? Or something else? I think it needs to be a mixture of things so that it doesn't become formulaic and like all the previous shows.

And it has to be more fun than Enterprise. Those early episodes had them just exploring a meteorite. From strange new worlds to a dull piece of rock!

I'd like an Enterprise B series set in the Abramsverse.

I liked the Bermanverse and all, but unless they erase the Abramsverse somehow in an upcoming movie, that's been played out.

Any trek show In future will be post Abrams films.Especilly since I am doudtful they will be able to keep him and cast together beyond a third film.

It's time to just admit 2009 film was a complete reboot which means all past Star Trek Is Ilrelvent.They aren't following any rules.Just doing whatever they want.Doesn't matter If It doesn't fit cannon.

...it wasn't though. If it was, then they wouldn't have bothered with Spock Prime or the time travel plot.

Thing is, the General Audience doesn't know the difference between the Abrams Universe and the original timeline. They see it as Star Trek with a younger original cast (a prequel). Trekkies understand that Spock and Nero traveled back in time, creating an alternate universe, which co-exists with an original timeline.

I'd like to watch a series that takes place in the ORIGINAL timeline, but AFTER Spock & Nero went through the wormhole. Maybe we can hear mentions of Ambassador Spock disappearing, and how Romulus has been destroyed, and the effects it had on the Romulans' relationship with the Federation.

Set it a generation after humans master warp (so, first real starships). Show humanity's first encounters with the now famous species. Colonizing planets, still working out their own problems. No Federation.

Yeah I know Enterprise touched on some of that. But Enterprise sucked.

Well, you gotta make it fresh. Like for example, focus on the frontier of human colonized space. More gritty less utopian.

I mean if they can't make a show out of that, they're in the wrong business.

There isn't much new ground to cover period. Trek has done everything. Twice. But there are things it hasn't explored much.

Star Trek has so much room to grow. It has to be fresh, but that can still be done in the post Voyager/Nemesis era. We have barely touched the surface of what Star Trek has to offer.

Yup. Only 3/4 have been explored. So much out there!

Old Trek is finished.

Plus viewers (non Trek-fans) would probably get very confused by seeing the movie, and then a different universe of sorts on TV.

I think something tied to the new movie could work. As long as there's some breathing room (not happening in the same era).

Although this isn't exactly the same thing, but remember how the TOS films where being made while TNG was on the air? I know they are part of the same timeline, but the GA sees it as two completely different things (different cast, different ships, different time period, etc.).

Also, they COULD connect the TV series to Abrams-verse. Just show Spock and Nero going through the black hole after Romulus gets destroyed, and people will know whats going on.

As far as being more Star Wars style, that is irrelevant to which timeline they choose. They could make a show set in the 25th century of the original timeline and do the same.
