Because demon smoke babies are awesome. Plus she's the only one that can make Stannis her whipping boy.

I like the Stannis/Davos/Melissandre thing they have going on. Stannis and Davos are bros to the end but Davos knows Mel is no good for him as she's warping his mind with her crazy religion. Stannis wants to be king and thinks being with her is the only way for that to happen.

I've been in a similar situation where my best friend was in a relationship with a nut who was terrible for him and he thought it was the only decent relationship he could ever have. I totally get where Davos is coming from.

Did your best friend's girlfriend also give birth to fart babies and could see into the future? There's a good reason why Stannis has given Melisandre a high ranking, it's not the religion, it's the power.

Stannis understands and values the power, much like Dragons are magical beings. Stannis isn't a fanatic, he's simply "desperate" given the situation at the start of season 4. Now he has the Iron Bank backing him and his mojo is back, we saw how tactically he destroyed Mance Rayder's camp.

I'm only on book two of the series so I'm not sure if the fifth book is past where Season 4 ended for Stannis. I'm hoping he hears Mance's plight about wanting to get over the wall to get away from the White Walkers and adds the wildling tribes to his cause. I'm also curious as to why Melissandre was staring at Jon Snow through the flames.

There is power in noble blood. Jon is a Stark. :cwink:

Burn baby, burn! R'hllor hungers!

I don't know about seeing the future but she she had the power to make his life hell.

I got all of that but the idea is that he just doesn't want to see his friend go down a path he feels he would regret later in life. Of course seeing how things happened with the blood and all he may be having second thoughts about her just being some religious nut.

Way past :cwink:

Love that Melisandre art.

I'm curious is to why Melisandre stared at Jon the way she did, maybe she knows something he or Stannis don't know.

well, we know jon knows nothing. i wouldn't put it pass stannis to know. he and jon arryn found out about cersei's bastards.

Are you a bookreader, queen?

Sometimes, but my friends are major readers and geeks over the books.

They tell me a lot of the big theories, which got me reading a lot of the fanfiction (the good ones)

I'm saving up for A Dance With Dragons.

In the trailer, Melisandre seemed a bit vulnerable, like she is losing her faith in the Red God.

She was promised victory by the vision in the flame and was let down by it. But what if she interpreted it wrong? Maybe the vision is correct but not involved Stannis but someone else.

In fiction, it is always either a that or a self-fulfilling prophecy.
