Atom Smasher
Supergirl

Third Tier

Good call. Either he or Sodom Yat. Probably Sodom. He has the power of Ion and isn't slowly dying of lead poisoning.

Who are the top 5 strongest heroes in DC in terms of pure strength? Surely Superman is in there...is he the strongest? Where does Wonder Woman rank?

I'd have to see who's actually here in this version of the DC Universe, and whether they are warping character powersets.

Prior to 52 - Wonderwoman could be placed on the bottom of the set that included Superman - Not as strong, but strong enough to beat him if she goes all out.

I'd put Aquaman in first tier personally, the man decked J'onn with out flinching.

There is no way in hell Wonder Woman could ever beat Superman. That is ridiculous. She's just an Amazon.

Same with Aquaman. He can lift a bus, sure, but Martian Manhunter can lift a building.

Superman is weak against magic, and Wonder Woman's got enough enchanted crap in her closet to hurt him and enough speed & power to give him a run for his money if she went all-out. She definitely deserves to be on a higher tier than Supergirl, as she could kick Kara's ass easily enough.

Aquaman can do more than just lift a bus.

He can life an entire city block.

I have the page as he is picking up said city block. I bought it at SDCC 2010 from Gleason himself. One of my prized possessions. :awesome:

Pardon?
Where were you when they had it out thanks to Max?

She CHOSE not to kill him,.. but it was a near thing.

Actually, I didn't realize Aquaman was kinda in the same league as Wondy and Supergirl when it came to strength. I knew he was a lot stronger than a common human, but not like lifting city blocks and stuff.

Interesting, but Aquaman is a bit underrated (IMHO that is).

Edit: Post #400 is about Aquaman.

Did you read when she didn't hold back in the mini before Infinite Crisid and Lord was controlling Superman? She very nearly could have killed him several times and she didnt have near the magical armory she could have had.

As I said Aquaman jacked J'onn in the face with out flinching all the while thinking it was Superman. So it could easily be argued that if Arthur would think that he could swing at the worlds most powerful being with reckless abandon and then do so while flat out decking him as well, he belongs in tier one.

Just because he has the balls to try that doesn't been he'd have the muscle to back it up. I never thought Aquaman had ridiculous strength. Stronger than most people, yeah, but I don't think he's close to Supes or even J'onn.

That's Aquamans daily life and he does that with ease. You missed the part here I said he Laid J'onn out who is often compared with Superman in strength. He could do it. In the article I posted it's explains the conditions and amount of weight he lives with on his back and whole body. It's like training in the mountains and then competing at Sea level.

It's arguments like this that show truly how overpowered Superman is.

Either way, if Wonder Woman is in the top tier, that means every damn Amazonian is, which would be ********. They got their asses handed to them by OMACs for god's sake. They are just not in the range of Kryptonians, Daxamites, Martians, Apokolipitans, or having the strength of Atlas.

Um, Wonder Woman is actually exceptionally stronger than the rest of the Amazons. Most Amazons are pretty damn tough by normal human standards, but Wonder Woman is the only one with super strength, flight, speed, etc. She's near Superman's level, but the rest are probably at Deathstroke's level.

same here. I didnt know strength was in his arsenal

Is there a reason for that? What made her so special.

Amazons are their own race? What exactly are they and do they mate the way humans do? I ask bc I know they live in an all-female society and look down on men. Do they mate with human men?

In the old comics they just didn't age. Hippolyta wanted a daughter and created Diana from clay and was blessed by the Gods. That made her special. This could be wrong, but I think I got it generally right.

In the new comics she's Zeus's daughter. The Amazons have their own kids by finding sailors, bangin' 'em, then killing 'em. They keep the girls and trade the boys to Hephaestus for weapons. Hephaestus cares for and raises them and gets them to build more weapons for him.

The Amazons of Themyscira were created by the Greek gods (well, a group of goddesses, actually), so they're not entirely human. They're one big group of women that sprang out of a magic fountain.

Wonder Woman (Diana) wasn't among them during their creation, though. She was a statue of a baby crafted out of clay by her mother Queen Hippolyta. A group of gods not only granted that statue life, but they gifted it with their power. So Diana was the only Amazon born with incredible strength, speed, etc.

As for the Wonder Girls, Donna and Cassie? Donna was a copy of Diana that was kidnapped (the kidnapper thought it was the real Diana) and grew up in the United States before being trained by the ancient Greek Titans and finding her way back to Themyscira as a teenager. Cassie is just Zeus' illegitimate daughter.

In the New52 continuity, Wonder Woman is more power than the other Amazons because she's also Zeus' illegitimate daughter.

Wow, thats' pretty f-ed up.

This is why I miss Gail Simone's idea for pairing the Amazons up with Gargareans. In Greek mythology, they were the male equivalent to the Amazons who kept and raised the male children whenever the two groups got together and made babies.

That's what WW thought, til something is revealed in the issue. I don't go into detail about it because I don't wanna spoil to someone not reading it. Because you totally should read the book.

Wasn't there some ads a while back, I think right after Amazons Attack, where it was basically the male equivalent of the Amazons were going to show up. Maybe it was a part of the Brave New World thing. I think it was actually.

Regardless, I didn't realize Diana was stronger than the rest of the Amazons. I thought her and Artemis were pretty much equals. I still don't buy that she's on the same strength level as Superman. Just because she has a magic arsenal that can harm him does not mean that she is anywhere near as strong as he is.

We are talking just strength here. We're not getting into weapons, (though I did include Steel. Go **** yourself. I do what I want.). Sure, you could argue that Alan Scott could create a construct that can lift a whole ****ing galaxy, but where's the fun in that?
