so thats why they took so long to post the cold open, they were doing some serious edits to make it present the way they probably intended in rehearsal.

I definitely felt the cold open was off when watching it on tv. I’m still a bigger fan of Sudekis as Biden than any of the guest actors who portrayed him (I love Mulaney’s stand up but his Biden was the worst).

I thought Carrey was good as Biden, but I think he's just getting warmed up. Presumably we're going to see Carey play this role weekly and I think the more he plays it the better and funnier he's gonna be.

The article I read was that whoever was to play Biden had to be willing to live in New York for multiple weeks and Sudeikis lives in Los Angeles with two young children and I don't think he wants to be away from his kids during a pandemic.

Biden has to be a dream role for Carrey. He auditioned for the show back in 1980 and didn't make it and would end up on In Living Color a decade later. Whenever he would guest host previously, he always seemed so happy to be there.

Nah, but the difference is that Rock has hosted and made guest appearances quite a few times since he's left the show so Murphy hosting after so long was a bigger deal. But since we're in election season, no host in the upcoming weeks is going to outshine Baldwin and Carrey, or Weekend Update for that matter.

I enjoyed him as Biden, but his all time greatest SNL moment was with Ferrell and Kattan as the third Roxbury guy.

That 1996 Jim Carrey hosted episode was one of the best SNL episodes of all time. I mean, EVERY sketch was a hit.

Just read that each audience member was paid $150 to attend the live show in order to meet the State’s health requirements. Not a bad gig.

You'll have hard time recognizing her.

I saw the cold open and this on Youtube:

Bowen Yang nailed the French Canadian accent. I've heard from some French people how weird it sounds to them. Kind of like Estonian to us Finns. And those Drake Watch bits... :funny:

Lorne did a interview with NBC recently. Lorne gives himself five more years of running the show. Hold on Kenan! Your time is coming!

Even if it means ending his show I think Conan O’Brien should take the reigns or Tina fey

I’m aware. I just got excited for a sec as I thought she might have a new album to promote, then realized she ain’t here to sing. :( Plus when non-actors/comedians host, it’s usually not great, imo.

They're going to miss a big opportunity to have Cecily and Adele in a Brits themed skit. Cecily has been away filming a project

Speaking of Emily Blunt, her husband John Krasinski was supposed to host following RuPaul and then SNL had to shut down due to the Pandemic. I hope that they bring him back.

    She killed that Bachelor skit!

    Also... John Mulaney next week!

ETA: She completely broke during the Africa skit! :lmao: I love her.

She was a better host than I expected, tbh. Did a pretty good American accent too.

That psychic sketch was such a great concept, but overall the writing still feels so weak to me this season so far.
