Comedy The Offical Saturday Night Live Thread - Part 3

I was expecting a historical retrospective with each episode covering a decade of the show but since each episode is so specific to a certain aspect of the show I have to imagine there's more to come.
There’s just so many stones left unturned. There being next to nothing on the early days of the show at all feels like the biggest indication that there has to be more coming.

And also because, while it's definitely an all-time classic, the Cowbell sketch surely isn't the only one worthy of its own documentary. There's gotta be more.

Honestly, it was an entertaining watch, but yeah. Seems like an episode devoted to several of the most popular sketches would’ve made more sense than focusing on just one.

I'm all about devoting an entire episode to one sketch if this is continuing as an ongoing series for a while. The tricky part is finding an iconic sketch where all the major players involved are still alive once you go older than the late 90's Ferrell era of the show. For example, the Chippendales sketch is just as iconic as Cowbell and would surely deserve its own episode but without Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze around to talk about it, you start to wonder if it's even worth it.

i'd like to see some about characters who had multiple skits, or even went on to movies. how they came to be, writing, guests involved etc

examples
Mary Katherine Gallagher
Church Lady
The Kulps
Debbie Downer
Mango
The Ladies Man
Cheri Oteri's pill lady
Simma Down Now Lady
Martha Stewart series, Ana Gasteyer
Coffee Talk, etc

guess you can tell which era i watched the most or remember the most lol

Wayne's World, the Roxbury guys, etc.

coneheads
Roseanne Roseannadanna
Pat
Celebrity Jeopardy
They could really do an episode on just the SNL movies to lay it all out why they thought that a Stuart Smalley movie would be a good idea at the time. :o

Timmy C killed it again.

He'll be a Five Timer soon enough. Only disappointing thing was no Tiny Horse this time.

I guess they're about to ramp up for the 50th Anniversary special on the 16th so no new shows for a while.

“Lorne has lost his ****ing mind and someone needs to shoot him in the back of the head,” Robinson is quoted as saying around the time of Trump’s hosting spot, per Morrison’s book.
I mean… he’s not wrong. :o

I would imagine the tickets are pretty hard to get considering the very limited schedule of shows throughout the year. I was actually gifted these tickets by a client of mine, "VIP" tickets but I don't know exactly what that means yet.

Congrats! I think with VIP tickets you also get a Rockefeller Center tour before the show but I'm not 100% sure about that.

I’m sure Chevy will be a barrel of laughs.

I have to imagine every prominent living cast member will be there. There are some noticeable omissions from that list like Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, Rachel Dratch, Bill Hader, Cecily Strong, etc...
