Kubrick is dead? Wow, I thought he was living in the enigma's mom's basement with him.

So that's why he didn't make A.I.

He died after "Eyes Wide Shut" was completed I believe.

Ah, Eyes Wide Shut, a film I believe is better than it often gets credit for being. Though it seems people have started warming to it more with the passage of time. I still love that the last line of Kubrick's last film is, "Let's f***."

He was an assistant director on Basic Instinct.
As well of the director of two of the Marvel One Shots.
Item 47 and Agent Carter.
Not a bad choice at all.

New director might be Louis D'Esposito...

I wouldn't be shocked at all. This thought actually crossed my mind earlier as a possibility. Now I wish I'd posted it, so I could prove my clairvoyance.

I remember at least a couple interviews with D'Esposito where he talked about trying out directing. I don't know if it's the best choice for the movie, but it could work out well for LD (if it's true).

he'd be a great get if they plan to work young Pym into the Agent Carter series somehow (if that's even possible).

I don't think young Pym is going to be old enough for that to work.

Devin Faraci.

Actually it originated with El Mayimbe, who has been in fire with his Marvel scoops as of late.

However, he says that Louis D'Esposito is a educated guess based on what he's heard, and that he doesn't have confirmation yet on whom they have chosen. However, he has confirmed that Marvel had narrowed it down to 2 directors.

D'Esposito is not a surprising name, yet was not brought up in any replacement choices.

None of those people would come into this project last minute with a script that's allegedly studio driven. Look for the new director to be a moderately known director at best, or possibly even Louis D'Esposito (Marvel producer who also directed a couple of the One-Shots).

I don't see Ant-Man moving too far unless Marvel decides they'll start doing three films a year from 2016 on. That mystery 2016 film was probably already a decent way along. I think we'll see a moderately known director (or possibly Louis D'Esposito, who works for Marvel, directed a couple of One-Shots, and has said he'd possibly like to do a film) announced shortly.

:cwink:

I'm not sure what the point of doing this movie anymore is. Just introduce Ant-Man in an Avengers movie. This was Edgar Wright's baby.

I agree with all three statements; but obviously, with cast and crew already attached and prepped for filming in a little over than a month, it's virtually impossible to just pull the plug now. John Carter-level disaster or no, depending on how pessimistic you want to get, this movie will get made.

I just find it interesting that Joss is about to show Marvel and Edgar Wright and fandom how Hank and Janet *should* have been introduced to the MCU with his take on Wanda & Pietro. If the Maximoffs didn't require a whole separate movie to introduce/explain them and their origin stories, Hank and Janet *sure* as hell didn't, either.

I actually kinda like not knowing what to expect from the film or the director.
