You can't even blow him up

Far more formidable than he sounds.
Damn! I'd like to see a scene like that one day.

Someone made an excellent point on another board:

"The "Pym should be Ant-Man" debate is hilarious. First of all, Pym IS Ant-Man in the movie, only in flashbacks. Second of all, Pym was only Ant-Man for the first issue of Avengers before becoming Giant Man, and only even made 5 appearances in Avengers as Ant-Man after that between 1963 and 1998. He spent most of his time as Giant Man, Yellowjacket, and Goliath, and the rest of the time quitting the team or consulting sporadically. Meanwhile, Scott Lang has been nothing but Ant-Man since 1979. He wasn't even married to Jan that long. Why does anybody get riled up about Scott Lang as Ant-Man in a movie and not Barry Allen as Flash on a TV show or Hal Jordan as Green Lantern in a movie? By that rationale, it should be Jay Garrick and Alan Scott. I guess nobody's gonna angrily point out that Natasha Romanov isn't the original Black Widow, right?"

Good post! And I honestly don't care if Pym or Lang is the main Ant-Man. This is the MCU and things will be different. The only thing that matters is getting the right actor for the part, and Paul Rudd is an excellent choice. I didn't care much for Thor or Loki but the actors portraying them have made me love the characters now.

I think the bottom line is Pym has a following that dwarfs Lang's and therefor think he should be a character more deserving of a full on live action treatment, not Lang. Having a senior retired version of Pym in the MCU doesn't make up for this. Lang for the most part has been an insignificant character in the pantheon of the Marvel Universe while Pym and by extension his wife Jan, the two making an interesting superhero husband and wife team, story wise, have been at the center of some interesting stories and would have been cool to see in development. Instead because a director had interest in Lang, Hank and Jan will not get their full on spot in the lime light but Scott and Hope will.

I like the Scott Lang comments, but I still can't help but feel that if your taking all the things Hank Pym is known for out of the film like founding The Avengers, relationship with Janet, creating Ultron, it is a bit of a shame because you are taking the things that the character is known for, but it looks like this Ant-Man franchise will be Scott Lang based instead.

Sure, there maybe Easter Eggs that Pym created the first iteration of Ultron in the 60's and maybe founded a spy/former Avengers team in the 60's, but it still a shame that he is not PROPERLY doing these elements rather than Easter Eggs or flashbacks. But all these films aren't period pieces, so maybe it was for the best that Pym stayed in the 60’s.

Cool Banner looks good, glad the leaked yellow jacket images were true. I like the look a lot.

Agreed. Liking the look of the suits - wonDer if we'll get an "inside the helmet" view similar to Iron Man's HUD.

They could of gone with O'Grady for Ant-Man. It is all a matter of personal choice. None of the three are undeserving of seeing a big screen adaptation. I'm not too bothered personally.

The main gripe I think some fans have isn't that Lang is Ant-Man but that Hank was made a 70 year old man which may have a knock on effect of having his wife & partner Wasp killed off, his interaction with fellow Avengers less likely and some obscure random alternate reality daughter used as Wasp in the films.

Stop making sense, internet.

It's not that Hank isn't Ant-Man so much as Hank is getting screwed out of both his rightful place as an active (and founding*) Avenger and out of his best storyline & major element of MU history (creation of Ultron).

Not to mention Jan apparently being snuffed & replaced as Wasp by her carbon copy daughter.

I haven't really seen anyone raging that I can recall but I don't really see how someone can say that Pym fans are being out of line. Captain America fans and Iron Man fans get to see them punching bad guys. Hank Pym fans get to see him doddering around a lab trying to recall how long since he pooped himself.

Anyway personally I find it easiest to just accept that it's an alternate continuity/reality and also I think Langs a pretty cool guy eh but you can't blame someone for wishing for a slightly different direction.

*unless it is indeed revealed that the Avengers started in the 60's.

I wonder if Lang will show up in Agents of Shield next season, in part to tie in to the film, and also because he is an interesting character that would add a different dynamic (and skill set) to the team.

They are mechanical arms rather than tentacles and they are most likely influenced by the militarized O'Grady G.I. Ant-Man suit mixed with the traditional yellowjacket costume.

I've always found that argument ludicrous. If the MCU were a game about popularity = deserving of a movie we sure as hell wouldn't have gotten a Guardians of the Galaxy film, which worked out quite well for everyone involved.

Arguments like that tend to show me that some people don't want to accept that the hardcore Marvel fans are now, and have always been, a small fraction of the actual audience and that their specific tastes or wants aren't necessarily indicative of the audience at large. So in this case "Hank has a bigger following in the comics" is about as irrelevant as a piece of info could possibly be, since in the grand scheme most people watching the movie have no clue who the hell Ant-Man is regardless of who is under the mask.

Look I know how much it sucks to see your fave get shafted, I do. But there's a certain amount of arrogance and entitlement in some of these arguments that is astounding.

Doc Ock's tentacles are just mechanical arms too, there just called tentacles. They should get rid of the arms and give him wings,he's suppose to look like a yellow jacket, instead of looking like Doc Ock.

BTW does anyone know if that Avengers logo on the promo is used in all MCU productions?

Really glad that the leaked Yellowjacket image was legit... I think this look is awesome!

Ant Man is my third most anticipated film of the year, behind Age Of Ultron and The Force Awakens. I'm really hoping that it surprises people.

He does have the wings. The two upper blades on his shoulders are wings.

The insect Yellowjacket has six limbs so the look is accurate.

Don't care for the mechanical arms, but the rest of the suit is ok.
