This year is been really interesting regarding the future of the X-Men Franchise, and with all this talk about a bigger shared universe, with new spin-offs and team movies, it was a matter of time Apocalypse started to be mentioned on interviews or different reports.

Here are the most relevant articles about Apocalypse possibly showing up in the near future:

Now, we had been hearing a fair bit of buzz connecting this film to a certain fellow called Apocalypse. A bad guy, an ancient mutant – or more of an ancient god, really. The very first mutant from five thousand years ago, or so Rich tells me. In recent comics, Apocalypse has been cloned as a kid and enrolled at the Jean Grey school. And everyone is waiting for him to just destroy the world.

The themes of these recent comics aren’t too dissimilar to the ones Singer spelled out for me.

So, just mentioning Apocalypse might be a good idea…

On hearing the name Apocalypse, Singer’s face changed immediately but there was no point being timid. Might as well plough ahead with the question. Would he even consider using Apocalypse in the movies? How about in Days of Future Past?

His nervous answer:

I can’t tell you…

That was most interesting. So I leapt forward and asked if realising the character of Apocalypse would require performance capture.

And now Singer looked even more nervous.

This is how it gets started, when somebody starts piecing the little bits together…

The non-verbal communication was even more compelling than what Singer was saying. If I had to bet on it, I would – we’ll be seeing Apocalypse in Days of Future Past, and he’s probably going to be a performance capture character.

EXCLUSIVE: Apocalypse Big Part of Fox’s New X-Men Universe
We’ve debated this rumor for a while here at Unleash The Fanboy, but now that SDCC has arrived, we’ve finally nabbed a quality source on the subject.

Apocalypse, that massive blue and gray genocidal baddie of mutant fame, will play a huge role in Fox’s expanded X-Men universe according to our source at the studio. We had a chance to speak with her before the craziness of SDCC gets into full swing this weekend.

This is what she said:

“He’s definitely a big part of Fox’s whole plan for a big X-Men universe with spin-off movies. The Avengers really is the template here”

I think the X-Men characters have a far richer, varied history than the core Avengers team, so they’re for damn sure perfect for an expanded universe of movies. Although, their origins have been muddled in previous flicks. Can we even count the innumerable quality characters that have been butchered with careless writing or tolken, 2-minute roles? Juggernaut, Sabretooth, Emma Frost; the list goes on and on.

But back to the story… When I asked if Apocalypse would show up in the next X-Men movie, DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, she responded:

“I won’t say too much about that. You’ll just have to wait and see”

I’m gonna take that statement as a big fat “YES! Apocalypse will be in DOFP!“.

What are thoughts about Apocalypse as the next big villain in the X-Men universe? Do you feel like he could lead to the Biggest X-Men Event of this franchise?

Interesting. I wonder how he will be in DOFP, if it's him or just mention of him?

It wouldn't surprise me if Apocalypse doesn't actually show up in DOFP, but is more of a puppet master throughout and kept anonymous. It'd be neat for the reveal to happen in a post-credits sequence though, setting him up as the main villain for a series of films. He could even cross between movies of the main X-Men franchise, X-Force, etc.

If he's in this I'm expecting him to be revealed at the end or in a post credits scene, similar to Thanos at the end of The Avengers.

I have mixed feelings with Apocalypse showing up at the end of DOFP.

On one hand, I love the idea to finally see him on the big screen and sooner rather than later, eve if its a tease, on other hand... I hope it doesnt look like an obvious copy of Thanos tease on Avengers.

If Singer can tease him in an original and different way, I will be more than happy

I have a theory We do not know what happened with Scott's body probably will get Cyclops merges with the villain Apocalypse like in Apocalypse: The Twelve

Agree, Cyclops isn't dead, because why after all Jean is lying near Alkali Lake. She should just left this place. Someone else was there, maybe Sinister kidnapped Scott, or maybe Jean split her body for good and bad side o Jean, like Buu Buu did in Dragon Ball Z.

that would be pretty cool, actually. To see the X-Men fighting Remy would be really badass.

My take would be some x-men, one brotherhood member and a new mutant.

If I had to choose two x-men for the horsemen, mmmm, hard decision, but...

- Angel (obviously! lol)
- Storm

Then Id use Mystique (as X-Men evolution, that used Storm too) and the new mutant, one from Age of Apocalyse, I mean, one of the comics horsemen.
