The Amazing Spider-Man The Official ASM THEATRICAL TRAILER Thread! - Part 3

This is going to be very very different from the Raimi origin, it's not going to feel the same just because it's Spider-man's origin. It's understandable to think that way since people have only seen the spider-bite part and not anything else about the origin in this film

If all they've seen from the origin is the spider-bite, and that itself is enough for them to not want to see this film regardless if it's very different from the Raimi origin, then that's not understandable to me at all.

THREAD MANAGER.

the general audience are just going to have to go with the origin again, or not.

if someone is set against seeing this movie because they've already seen the origin then I doubt anything will change their minds. the bottom line is peter IS going to be bit by a spider and is going to learn his powers again. bottom line.

Another day. Another night. No trailer, but thank god I am alright!

That's not understandable, but it's understandable that general audience claims it being the same since all they have seen is pretty much the same

Of course that's what is going to happen again. I'm not here convincing anybody else of anything. It's merely my opinion and how I feel about it.

As far as the teaser trailer goes I have no want or need to see it in the theater.

And, also, it's not like Spider-Man is some kind of new character or anything to the world. How many cartoons has the character had? Ultimate Spider-Man will be coming on television soon. Spectacular Spider-Man ended just a few years ago. Spider-Man 3 was just in 2007. There have been how many different video game variations?

I just don't see another origin movie necessary. It's a waste of film. They can just go into the movie with him being Spider-Man and it's going to make the same amount of money.

But, but it's the untold story.

Is that what they are seriously calling it?

*goes to IMDB sees movie poster*

Wow. Just wow. The Untold Story? SERIOUSLY?!?!

:lmao:

Sony is REALLY stretching themselves thin on this one. The Untold Story that's been told like over a hundred times since 1962. :oldrazz:

Even though it's not really the case here, the first time I saw The Incredible Hulk I thought it was a sequel to Hulk. If they'd told the origin (even if it was only like, 20 minutes of the film through a flashback) I probably wouldn't have been confused like that.

they have to do the origin. if they jump straight into the story and spidey for example uses his eb shooters then the audience will be confused thinking 'I thought he organically made webbing. the origin is unavoidable.

And the character used web shooters in about 40 years worth of comic books and hundreds of episodes of animated series over 20 to 30 years.

I don't think the audience would be that confused. You know what is the filmmakers friend...montage. They could do an origin montage.

Weird Al Yankovic sang the plot of the first Spider-Man movie in a 4:53 song to the tune of Billy Joel's Piano Man.

Sony just wants the origin done again because Raimi told them to shove it. The actors bailed because the director bailed and they want their hundreds of millions of dollars.

Oh...and this one will be in 3D! :wow: So, it's "untold" now. :cwink::oldrazz:

we need to stop think of the general audience as fans. I would say the vast majority of the general's audiences' exposure to spider-man is via the movies.
as far as they are concerned his love interest is mary jane and he organically creates webbing.

there are loads of hellboy stories but all I know about hellboy I got from the movies. if they rebooted hellboy and he (for example) lost his rock fist I'd be confused regardless of whether this has happened in the hellboy comics.

You're giving the GA too much credit, SpideyInATree.

Seriously, there are people I've talked to that still don't understand why he has "those metal things" on his wrists or ask me why Mary Jane has blonde hair. Face it, the general audience is ignorant as all hell.

Exactly. The the origin HAS to be retold if they are going to reboot.

Not retelling the origin would kill this reboot out of the gate.

The prime example of this is The Incredible Hulk.

That movie was a reboot but because Marvel really didn't advertise it as such and the little fact that it started in South America, Most of the GA thought it was a sequel to the almost universally hated, Hulk.

TIH should have been WAAAAY more successful had it 1) Been advertised as a reboot and most importantly, RETOLD THE ORIGIN FULLY!

The origin was retold in snippets in that film, rather than fully like originally intended (You can blame ALMIGHTY Norton for that) and it suffered.

A reboot has to have the origin retold or it will fail.

The key is to retell the origin properly.

Exactly. I was one of the people that thought this as well.

The Untold Story is referring to his parent's story...

and to the tragic story of the Stacys which was untold in the Raimi series and on film in general.

As well as the Ultimate verion of Spidey's origin which, for all intensive purposes, this film is telling.

I had the same reaction, but the website (indirectly) states how the "story" is what happened to his parents and his father's work. They should have specified it though.

The Untold Story is referring to his parent's story...

His parents were spies and then the Chameleon, via Harry Osborn, brought them back as cyborgs and Peter snapped and nearly killed the Chameleon and Harry Osborn, believed dead, got the last laugh.

Come on...EVERYBODY knows that! :oldrazz:
