My only gripe with the Sam Rami movies is that Spider-Man lacked a sense of humor. That's not really Sam's fault though, it was more Toby's fault. Now that I look back at the films, he was pretty much just phoning in his performance. Same with Kristin Dunst. Also I never understood Rami's decision to have Curt Conners in the movies but no lizard. Rami was hell bent on Vulture for some unknown reason.

The whole creative team behind the first 3 movies were on some apathy tip, with the odd bit of genius shining through.

Spider-man 3 didn't even gross that... I'll gladly eat my shoe if it breaks 400 mil. I'd love it to but at this point I'd say it's highly unlikely.

I quess your right. If Rami was such a huge Spider Man fan, then he should have known that Spider Man has a sense of humor particularly in the heat of battle. In this trailer alone, Andrew has given the character loads more personality than what was seen in the previous movies.

Good eye. It's seems like they are going with the idea that they both created each other. Conners created the spider that turns Pete into Spider Man and, Pete helps create the formula that turns Conners into Lizard. I am also sure this relationship will also relate to Pete's parents as well since his dad worked with Conners.

If you look at the green formula that Conners injects in himself and then in the end shot of Spiderman swinging into the lizard another green canister is at the base of the pylon.

Looks like the lizards plan is to turn people into lizards. Be a pure race, no imperfections at a guess.

Tobey wasn't written as wooden but more so that Peter never grew personality wise beyond his HS form. Out of the suit he was always lacked confidence. We don't see him with a large group of friends or a gf. Its only in Spiderman 3 that he grows a little bit. But much of himself is bound up in being Spiderman while trying to fit Peter Parker in. Honestly this was the first outing of the character. Because of Raimi, Webb could have a Spiderman with more wisecracks.

Tobey I think would have been more then capable of doing it. He has done it in his other movies. I think Raimi wanted an underdog and he kinda went with a Clark Kent/ Superman vibe.

I think its fine to compare the movies but keep in mind that Raimi couldn't include everything about the character because you can only test the waters so much. Webb knows people will buy a man in a skin tight red and blue suit. He knows they will buy a character who spins webs. He knows they will buy a monstrous villain. Webb gets to take Spidey to the next level.

Also you know Raimi and how his characters sense of humor works.

That will be fine if it's pulled off right. I won't despise it at this point. My main worry since the leak is it looks as if we are getting the Lizard that wants to turn all of NYC into lizards. No thanks to that. I was hoping for the tragic Lizard that can't help himself and hurts his family and not the megalomaniac turn Earth into planet Lizard, Lizard. Blah.

I saw that too. That pretty much proves that this Lizard is the evil mastermind kind, which is slightly saddening. I had hoped we weren't getting that, but to be honest, it's far from a deal breaker in anyway, though.
