I think the bad guys in this movie look absolutely fantastic, especially Nuada, Wink and The Golden Army, and i cant wait to see them all in action, looks like Luke Goss will add another great CB bad-guy to his repertoire, and his story looks really interesting as well.

Wink and The Golden Army just look awesome, and the fact that we will get to see HellBoy battleling both is just awesome. I wonder what the final fight of the movie will be? HB vs Nuada, or HB vs TGA.

I think Nuada looks like an amazing character. He is the villain of the film, but you can understand his point of view. Not only that but from the first trailer it looks like he is an excellent close combat fighter as well, and his look is great (I love the evil pale Elf look).

I like the armor those elfin guards had, when Nuada was going to confront his dad. A while back word was that this "Golden Army" was goblin built. I wonder if Del Toro has any of those up his sleeve? Possibly that old lady, you think?

What, goblins? Oh yes indeed. The old lady, BTW, is a troll. The makeup on Roy Dotrice as King Balor is phenomenal. Just beautiful work.

There is a wonderful Goblin in HB2, designed by the same fellow who created Hellboy's make-up for the first movie - Matt Rose!

Is that John Alexander's goblin? Wow. I didn't know Matt did the design. Kudos indeed, for 'tis wondrous.

Who is the Angel of Death? Is he a bad guy?
And any chance of Karl Ruprecht Kroenen coming back?

No Kroenen in this one. Maybe in Hellboy III, if it gets made.

The Angel of Death ... well, the character is somewhat androgynous and is known as 'she' in the script. But a bad guy? You'll have to wait and see - she has a pivotal role in the film, concerning a choice that has to be made. And it's quite a choice, believe me.

^Unfortunately i spoiled myself with that scene in the set visit, still cant wait to see it though, should be incredibly emotional.

Wink and Nuada both look awesome in that featurette Antonello posted from Empire. Looks like Nuada and HB clash a few times in the movie. Cant wait to see it, i wonder who the final battle is with though, Nuada, or the Golden Army?

PS. Dont actually tell me HM :cwink:.

Can I ask you Hellboy geeks about the movie compared with the comics? I'm sure I read somewhere that the story and the Prince and other baddies were new creations of Del Toro not derived from the comics, but I can't find a link.

If so, is this one of the first cases of a comicbook movie creating new characters?

Anyhow, the movie looks good! The Orphanage is also well worth seeing...

Yes, the Golden Army itself is a new plotline and the characters have never been featured in the comics, though there are some similarities to preexisting comic characters. Nuada reminds me of a more assertive version of that little fairy from "The Corpse", and as has been previoulsy stated, Mr. Wink looks like the pig demon Grom from the same story. He has also been compared to Von Klempt's cyborg gorilla.

Superman IV created a new villain. Volcano Man or something like that.

All the bad guys looks awesome the prince is both creepy and very regal. Wink is awesome that suit is so organic. i just hope that the pics we've seen of HB grabbing nuada by the neck its not how he defeats him. I really want the prince to be HB greatest opponent yet.

Wink is my absolute favorite of the 'bad guy' line up. He's totally unexpected.

And he can even throw punches with Hellboy.

I heard the Goblin and Wink were at the NY Comic Con, any one get any photos of either of these guys?

Thanks HM, those are some great shots. Selma looks great, but poor John A. in that Goblin rig...

The rig looks incredibly uncomfortable. I remember talking to John about working in it and he said he had been strengthening his back to take the pressure of working in such a confined space. It's a great design though. John was hoping he would be using his own voice in the role - I hope that is the case.

I like them using evil elves, and none of that LOTR orlando bloom pretty boy crap.

Prince Nuada actually looks like he can go toe to toe with Red.

Most of the Elves in Lord of the Rings could have taken on Nuada. Hugo Weaving was an Elf you would not want to mess with. It's just because of Orlando Bloom's more feminine performance as Legolas, all Elves are now classed as pretty elegant creatures with no dark side. Hopefully Hellboy 2 and The Hobbit (which contains Thranduil, a very edgy Elvenking) will re-establish the Elves as a fantasy race that you do not want to go up against.

Yeah i definitely don't mean to belittle Tolkien in any way. I just meant mainly the look. I like that darker grimer look. It makes them less human looking. Sort of reminds me of how the designs for the Warhammer game are.

The elves in HB2 look like they stepped out of a Brom painting. More supernatural elves, than the LOTR angelic creatures.

The final fight in any Hellboy story is always a Lovecraft Elder God. We've already seen the one that they're gonna use in the trailer.

Nope - that's not it. And that isn't an Elder God - that's an Elemental.

I've done an exclusive interview with the actor who plays Nuada (Luke Goss) for my media company's sci-fi blog here...

http://blogs.coventrytelegraph.net/thegeekfiles/2008/05/luke.html

Comments on the blog are, as always, very welcome. At least i then know people have had a look at it if they leave some feedback!

Good interview.
I don't think he'd be right for either Snake or Fisher, but he might make a good Raiden. Especially now that Ray Parks is about to make his name on GI Joe.
