The Official Batman Returns Thread - Part 2

Yes, all Tim Burton films have a rather wintery, festive feel.

I always end up driving when it's snowing or just driving on Christmas eve and I think of the last scene with Bruce looking out the window silently.

Followed by the "Merry Christmas, Alfred." Lines. Every time that seems to happen.

I have a list of Christmas films that I am planning to watch and Batman Returns is on there. It's a great film to watch in December.

^It truly is. That and Die Hard throw in Nightmare Before Christmas and that might be as festive as I can get. But Returns is the christmas eve special for me.

Don't forget about Changing Places. The missus and I watch that over the Christmas holiday every year.

For some reason, the Laurence Olivier version of Henry V is in our Christmas repertoire, as well. And The Adventures of Robin Hood. There is something about medieval England that prepares you for roasted meats and good red wine.

Don't you mean Trading Places? I haven't seen it but I may put it on my list.

What I got so far on my list:

A Christmas Story
Batman Returns
Die Hard
Home Alone
Home Alone 2
Bad Santa
Nightmare Before Christmas

I know im missing something but that's just off the top of my head.

Oh sh** I forgot my all time favorite classic, Jingle All The Way!

It's also a very prescient film for today.

Ahnuld ends up in every topic known to man, It's how he rolls!

That was a reference to the Schwarzenegger Clutch Cargo segments on Conan, by the way. I don't like Jingle All the Way much anymore, but I kind of treasure it just because of the way it was used as a running gag in those segments.

Oh I know what you meant (huge Conan fan). I saw it last year during December and the film for me hasn't aged at all. It's still hilariously awesome.

But back to Batman Returns, does anyone have the behind the scenes on youtube? I have it on blu ray but I want a quick look at it (since Im at work).

So I'm looking forward to it getting colder outside and for the holiday season (in a weird way).

When it's the holiday season, I must watch Batman Returns, am I the only one who is like this?

I watch it every Christmas.

Usually love watching somewhat 'anti-Christmas' movies at that time (even though here in Australia it is hot as hell in December).

Bad Santa, Reindeer Games, Batman Returns, Gremlins.

Sometimes I miss watching the others, but I never forget to watch Returns. There's something about Batman stories set in snowy winter - it just works incredibly well visually.

You sir, are speaking my language. I love a snowy Gotham.

With some of the set pictures and trailers of TDKR, I thought we were in for some snowy Batman again.

It didn't really eventuate though. Just a bit of light snow at the end.

Same thing with Arkham City on the light snow.

The snow definitely (for me at least) helps give a lonely, quiet, foreboding mood. A couple of shots in TDKR had it.

Catwoman wallpaper for anyone that wants one

I've wanted one for 20 years.

Oh wait, you meant the wallpaper. That's good, too.

Huh. I never really considered that winter in Australia is June, July, and August

I always watch Returns before christmas every year, definitely a yearly tradition for me.

Kroger is selling these now.

Ordered that yesterday. I love that Hotwheel's made this vehicle, I love it and always get a kick out of The Penguin blasting out of his hideout up the steps in The Duck.

I forgot to mention this here but I bought the official comic adaptation of BR from 92.

I own both versions of this but the cover on this one is beautiful much like the 1989 adaptation cover. (Not the newsstand version)

The official comic adaptation of BR cover looks amazing. I wonder why DC didn't make official comic adaptations of the Nolanverse films?
