Batman Returns The Official Batman Returns Thread - Part 4

I don't remember the Batman Returns cups although I had the Happy Meal toys. That same guy illustrated the awesome Jurassic Park cups a year later too.

To this day, Batman has never looked cooler than he did in Returns.

This is the best Batman costume ever.

But it would be perfect if we had the bodysuit from 89, with the emblem and cowl from Returns. That suit would be unbeatable.

The cowl in this movie just looks so damn good, it’s crazy we haven’t been able to beat it.

I really liked the cowl in Begins, but the Affleck and Pattinson cowls have left a lot to be desired IMO. When I think of how Batman should look, I just imagine Keaton in Returns.

The Returns suit and the Begins suit are my favourites. I wouldn't even swap the body of the Returns suit for the 89 one, I just love the whole Returns look. I'll also say Kilmer looked pretty damn awesome suited-up, and so did Affleck in the BVS TDKReturns-style armour.

The Returns suit is definitely up there as one of the best, with a strong argument for it being the best. I'm easy to please when it comes to the Batsuits. The only ones I don't like at all are any of Affleck's post-BvS suits and Clooney's suits. In regards to the latter it's not even because of the nipples, the first suit just looks off (eyeholes too big and rounded) and the second one is just an action figure design.

Rewatching the film yes Batman doesn't get quite enough screen time but it feels very clear and intentional that the villains reflect aspects of him and he's really great, really well portrayed when he does appear. And particularly Catwoman is really compelling but in part because a few aspects are pretty implied but still open to be interpreted rather than directly, specifically spelled out.

In an interview Pfeiffer said she thought Selina "was always good at heart but was always running astray" and that's a really unique approach to take.

I don't get why Selina told Max she went into his protected files. Was she trying to blackmail him or convince him she could be an ally? Seems she only did that because the script needed to give him a reason to push her out that window so she could become Catwoman. The script needed the character to do a thing, logic be damned.

Pretty sure just nervousness and/or thinking that she was sloppy about it, that he would know, very quickly find out about she did anyway.
