Burnett is gone, Romano is gone, Radomski is knee deep in MARVEL, Dini seems more freelance and Timm is... going through a phase. :o

I think it would be difficult to capture the same magic twice. Not to mention, they'd lose that old ink 'n' paint feel.

I don't know... I'd love to see more but it would be tough.

Today is a very sad day... Len Wein, one of the legendary writers and editors in comic book history, has caught the last train out (he was 69 years old). I would like to honor his memory by mentioning some of the brilliant and memorable work that he did on Batman: The Animated Series.

    Len Wein
also wrote Batman #321 - "Dreadful Birthday, Dear Joker...!" http://imgur.com/a/Q7cFs - one of the best Joker stories that was drawn by Walt Simonson. Certain bits and pieces of it would later be adapted in a special "Christmas with the Joker" episode:

And certain plot elements from Batman #327 were also adapted in the "Dreams in Darkness" episode:

Lots of people try to reason why Phantasm is great by saying that it's "dark" and "serious" like TAS, or they'll point to the action and how it's more violent and intense than other animated stuff, or even that the story is more mature.

How many people say that Phantasm is great because it's a beautiful and sincere love story?

Semi-TAS related, since it's the 15th anniversary of the premiere of the original series, I decided to do a follow-up to my retrospective vid from 6 years ago. I've been wanting to do this video for awhile, since primetime network TV is much friendlier to DC superheroes than when the show came out originally.

    The original rant:

    And the new vid:

I now have a reason to invest in the entire series.

I'm curious how the transfer will work. I haven't see how the Blu Ray version of Mask of the Phantasm looks, but I've heard from just one person that they weren't a fan of the resolution. Granted, that was just one opinion.

I thought the transfer was great. They didn't do the mistake of going overboard and make everything look too clean and flat.
