Have fun.

You know what's a very underrated episode? Blind as a Bat. I really loved this one alot. Always been one of my favourites.

The concept of Batman being blind in the face of a crisis was great. And The Penguin was written as the deadly threat he always should be.

Great showdown between him and Batman in the metal works factory. The animation was very smooth in this one, too.

hurmm favorite episode?

last laugh probably

Y'KNOW WHY!?!?!??!?!?!

CAPTAIN CLOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

also Clock King may or may not have changed my life

I'm interested in knowing how, if you don't mind me asking.
It just seemed to me that Fugate was an example of brain over brawn. You have this scrawny little man whose very intelligent, and as a result he knows the exact timing of all of batmans moves and can react accordingly. fascinating IMO

One of my absolute favorite episodes that so many people overlook is Appointment in Crime Alley. You've got this smooth, Lex like character that in the end, Batman can't bring to justice. Its the anniversary of his parents murder and he's searching for Leslie, all the while having to stop all these other crisis' along the way. There's just alot of emotion in this episode and I love it.

Every episode is so great it's too hard to pick a favorite. I love them all!

It's a shame Nolan didn't use Lesie Thompson (sp?) in BB & TDK. I would loved her in live-ction movies.

So, to move this topic a bit...did anyone like any of the redesigns the characters got in TNBA? Which did you like and which did you not care for?

I seem to be in the minority, but I liked all the redesigns except for the Joker. The black eyes and no lips...eww. ROTJ and JL was a much better look. My favorite of the three DCAU Jokers.

Batman and Scarecrow were the best of the bunch.

I also like how Kevin Conroy changed his voice in TNBA onward. I don't know if it was just natural deepening of his voice over time or if he did it intentionally, but I love it. :woot:

I personally disliked all the re-designs,

scarecrow was no longer this geeky professor gone mad kinda deal, madhatter was well....more like the one from alice in wonderland,
killer croc was :(, as for joker I much prefererred him in Justice League.
who else? riddler gone bald..nope not my thing.
Two-face had minor changes, so no big deal there.
can't think of anyone else?

I loved Scarecrow's redesign. I thought it was a hundred times better than the TAS one.

The complaint with the Scarecrow is more about how they changed his characterization, though, unless I'm misunderstanding you. Visually, I thought it was a huge improvement. But the lowered, creepier voice and such was also an improvement, IMHO.

Mad Hatter, I never really liked either of his designs, to be honest, but I feel the TNBA one is a slight improvement, and it's more faithful to the images I've seen from the comics so that's an extra plus.

Riddler! I completely forgot about him. He only appeared like once in TNBA, right? Now that I think of it I definitely prefer the BTAS look on that one...the green spandex should stay with Jim Carrey, Frank Gorshn, and comic appearances long since past. :hehe:

And with the Joker I'm right wth you on JL, but I view the TNBA as an improvement over TAS because I like the color scheme better as well as the slimmer body. BTAS Joker always looked kind of...chubby. :hehe:

I don't see what was different about Scarecrow's characterisation. It's the first time he actually seemed scary in the cartoon, IMO. That was the only difference.

Jeffrey Combs was brilliant at voicing him, too.

That's what I was talking about, he also moved differently, IIRC. His whole vibe, outside of just the new costume, was drastically altered.

I really liked Scarecrow in BTAS, not much of TBNA. Producers did great job with Crane.

Joker's I did indeed like...especially his clothing...They combined these two designs to make the best looking Joker on television.

I believe the middle was the original design, based off of Batman Returns' take, much like Penguin. I was hard to make completely black characters back then.

12.jpg

This had to be one of the best redesigns, it was so good and frightening, Timm and co didn't want to show him without his mask.

13.jpg

My personal favorite...so good I kinda wish they would re animate BTAS with this design. The original run they were forced to base his design after Batman Returns.

14.jpg

Ivy's clothes are better, however...the pale skin I don't really care for...but I guess there was a reasonable explaination for that...

16.jpg
No...No, No, No...NO. The spandex look is kinda supid...and did he have to be bald?
Riddler.jpg
This was when they mixed both designs together in the comic series. It's basically the TNBA head on the BTAS body. This would be my favorite design...had it existed *cries*

Well, I think my post is getting rather lengthy...so I better hang it up now.

I don't know, I personally didn't like his re-characterization of the scarecrow.

I thought they nailed it the first time, and the re-design felt like a totally new character, and not Johnathon Crane, had they created a new character and used that character, I would of been happy. Alas, Its not scarecrow to me...it's more like a killercroc version of scarecrow (if that makes sense?).

I forgot about the good guys re-designs, I found bruce to look much younger, penguin didn't seem as dastardly can't say I liked his re-design, poison ivy seemed toooo cartoony same with catwoman, umm, gordon was good, robin, bullock was fine.

Yeah, i was surprised they re-designed the riddler so much, he was only in one episode and he wasn't even real. it was like a flash back of some sorts if I remember correctly, or the mad hatter perhaps? not sure why they would re-design him.

Clayface was way better in the new one.

I really find those before and after shots don't really do B:TAS justice, they were a lot better I guess fluidly then they look standing still like that.

Joker I always found was wearing a robin style mask in B:TAS for the first couple of episodes, didnt like that much, and in B: TNBA...he didn't make me feel like I was supposed to laugh at much,

but in JL..he cracks me up.

Ahhh! I was just about to make a thread about this!

Anyway, to just kind of comment on the discussion at hand, some of the redesigns are great. The main problem with the designs of BTAS was that sometimes the characters looked kind of chunky. They eliminated that problem in TNBA. Of course, I didn't like that The Joker didn't have red lips and The Riddler looked...well, he looked better in TNBA than he did in The Batman.

My only complaint about TNBA was that there was no distinction between Batman's voice and Bruce Wayne's voice. That gets on my nerves. It's a minor thing, but still...

Oh, and does anyone know the title of the episode of TNBA where Superman pretends to be Batman? Tim Drake helps him and there's something about nano-technology.

ross, The episode you are looking for is called Knight Time. Riddler was one of the only redesigns that made no sense as he wasn't even used. Even Mad Hatter had his episode in Animal Act.

As for Bruce and Batman's voices, I don't think that he was around a lot of people outside of the Bat-family. I know he wasn't as out and about as Bruce Wayne of BTAS in TNBA.

Anyone care for (or notice) any of the voice changes throughout the seasons?

Killer Croc, Baby Doll and Talia had different voice actors in TNBA than BTAS.

Penguin had a different voice in Mystery of the Batwoman which I didn't care for because Paul Williams owned Penguin as much as Hamill owned Joker. Don't get me wrong, David Ogden Stiers (sp) was a good Penguin, but not as good as the already established one.

Also, another question, what are your favorite and least favorite (I've got Batman in my Basement) episodes?

Ivy, Joker, Riddler, Scarecrow and MR Freeze were a joke in TBA Ra's al Ghul was great design in BTAS loved him and got excited when Ra's was going to be in Batman Begins.

To give Scarecrow some credit...there's not much you could do with a one trick pony like Scarecrow. So Never Fear was an episode that I enjoyed for him.

Judgement Day is one of my all time favorite episodes...Two-Face never has had a dull moment at all in the DCAU from what I could remember.

Almost Got 'Im was another great episode Love it when Two-Face, Joker, Penguin and Ivy explain how each almost got Batman and Bats even survived without his belt and Two-Face almost had him.

What did you guys think about Harvey dating Pamela (Ivy)?
