She's done mainly TV work but if given the chance. Just give her a screentest and let's see from there. I'm sure she'd look fine dying her hair red. And she's not too young either.

So, yeah... my whole casting, plus a bit of characterization

you know, the other day I was thinking Greg Kinear would make an amazing John Kent. In every movie his in, he generally plays the all around nice guy. He'd fit that role really well. He's young enough to be young for Superman's arrival, and teen years, and he's old enough to be convincingly aged for the superman adult years.

in Sabrina, Friends, Someone Like You, You've Got Mail, Mystery Men, Dinner with Friends, and a few other roles, he's an *******. I think I've seen him do nice guy twice. however, hed be an interesting choice for Jonathan Kent, or maybe even Perry White

KRYPTON:

Jor-El- Hugo Weaving (A very solid, strong, confident presence, and he has an amazing speaking voice.)
Lara- Felicity Huffman (She has an intelligence that all Kryptonians should have, and she's also very attractive.)
General Zod- Karl Urban (He is a big guy, has very dark, striking eyes, and when Zod is introduced, I see him being liked a big, scary, jacked badass, who literally kicks the **** out of the miliatary, and when he shows up to take out Kal-El, all hell breaks loose. Crazy, disater movie destruction ensues when he arrives, and Karl Urban could do that)
Brainiac- Doug Jones (A great speaking voice, and he has done lots of work with make-up and motion capture)

SMALLVILLE:

Jonathan Kent- William H. Macy (He's a terrific actor with a strong presence and earnest, loving vibe. He'd be a perfect father figure to Clark, giving him advice and guiding him through life.)
Martha Kent- Sela Ward (She's very charming and has an older, yet attractive, likability, which Martha needs.)
Lana Lang- Lyndsy Fonseca- (Since Lana is only shown as a teeneager, I would go with her because she's hot and is a pretty good actress.)
Pete Ross- Unknown

METROPOLIS

Perry White- Adam Arkin (He's already played an editor in Hitch and he was perfect. He has the right look, and he could be very funny.)
Jimmy Olsen- Anton Yelchin (He's got the look, the charm, and the chops. 'Nuff said.)
Maggie Sawyer- Angie Harmon (She 's intelligent and no b.s. She plays cops really well, and could be perfect as a hot, no nonsense detective.)
Morgan Edge- Sam Rockwell (He could easily play the devious corporate mogul with smarmy charm and hidden evil motives.)
Mercy Graves- Kaley Cuoco (She's really attractive. Nuff said)

KRYPTON:

Jor-El- Hugo Weaving (A very solid, strong, confident presence, and he has an amazing speaking voice.)>> No. Completely wrong face. Jor-el should have a heroic look to him.
Lara- Felicity Huffman (She has an intelligence that all Kryptonians should have, and she's also very attractive.)>> A little older than I would go for Lara.
Crazy, disater movie destruction ensues when he arrives, and Karl Urban could do that)>> No Zod please.
Brainiac- Doug Jones (A great speaking voice, and he has done lots of work with make-up and motion capture)>> Interesting choice.

SMALLVILLE:

Jonathan Kent- William H. Macy (He's a terrific actor with a strong presence and earnest, loving vibe. He'd be a perfect father figure to Clark, giving him advice and guiding him through life.) >> Good actor, but not the right look imo.
Martha Kent- Sela Ward (She's very charming and has an older, yet attractive, likability, which Martha needs.)>> I could see that working. In her younger days she would have looked like Lois.
Lana Lang- Lyndsy Fonseca- (Since Lana is only shown as a teeneager, I would go with her because she's hot and is a pretty good actress.)>> A lot of actresses could work for this part.
Pete Ross- Unknown

METROPOLIS

Perry White- Adam Arkin (He's already played an editor in Hitch and he was perfect. He has the right look, and he could be very funny.)>> We can do better, but he would be alright.
Jimmy Olsen- Anton Yelchin (He's got the look, the charm, and the chops. 'Nuff said.)>> Everyone and their Mom has suggested him for this role. Fans would not oppose it.
Maggie Sawyer- Angie Harmon (She 's intelligent and no b.s. She plays cops really well, and could be perfect as a hot, no nonsense detective.)>> Meh. Can do better.
Morgan Edge- Sam Rockwell (He could easily play the devious corporate mogul with smarmy charm and hidden evil motives.) >> Don't see it.
Mercy Graves- Kaley Cuoco (She's really attractive. Nuff said)>> I think there are other actresses who naturally look better for the part.

I wasn't going out of my way to disagree, just turned out that way.

thank you webhead. the only reason why i pick some of these ppl is because i think that with the right costumes and make-up, the looks would be good, and with their acting talent and what i imagine their incarnations of certain characters to be, they would be good. i personally think that these people would both retain and also bring some newness to the characters

How about Craig T. Nelson as Perry White? obviously he would have to get a haircut, since he's been sporting the long hair recently that looks a little weird.

Bill Murray as Perry White would be amazing...

Especially if part of the plot revolves around the decline and/or evolution of newspapers, the Planet in particular. Murray could be really funny exasperated at all this crazy stuff happening all around him and also command a newsroom full of journalists and peers to do their jobs, etc

And it would fit the Nolan criteria of casting Big even for secondary roles.

i liked almost all of them. Your krypton and metropolis ones are good. as for your sv ones i dont know your martha/lana picks.

I actually think Karl Urban would make a better Jor-el than Hugo Weaving. Though I think there are better actors out there for the part.

I'm still sticking to Eric Bana being Jor-El.

I was just answering based on that poster's list of actors.

Bana could easily make a good Jor-el. Russel Crowe would if he dropped like 40 pounds.

she would be nice, and i noticed the thread name has been changed? any reason for it?

KRYPTON:

Nice choice, and yes, Doug has a great speaking voice. But I have to say that Doug has not done motion capture in a film to date. But I think he'd make a great Braniac!
