The Official Choose A Director Thread

I don't think that it was Superman Returns because that was Singer's (bad) idea.

True. If IIRC, WB first had Singer look at the Abrams script and asked if he was interested in directing that. Singer declined and then proceeded to develop the wonderful story that is SR.

I would want Bay to have a co-director. Bay can handle the action sequences and give it that grand, epic feel...but I'd also want someone to reel him in and keep characters at the forefront.

Yes you are. If we are going for directors who can do great action I'd prefer the Wachowski (sp) siblings.

i think bay (or abrrahms) is the best option to give superman fans and the genereal audience what they want

Well, the item did say 'at one point' which presumably means Bay decided against it for some reason. But it does indicate he was asked...

bay directing with speilberg producing could be sweet...he usually makes sure scripts are pretty good and he is big enough to reel bay in...basically like transformers

Producing? I would rather see Speilberg direct the film.

Bay was offered to direct the Abrams script. He declined.

If a big name Director does the next Superman, it should be Peter Jackson.

I cannot believe Spielberg has not done a comic film. He is a huge Flash fan, ya know. Wally West fan, that is.

I'm more interested in getting him as a writer to be honest. Team him with Jeph Loeb.

Ah, to think we could have had a giant robotic Brainiac peeing on Lex Luthor. Maybe even some *********ion jokes with Jonathan, Martha talking to young Clark. :(

Watching the Transformers blu-ray HUD feature and it said that "At one point Michael Bay considered directing Superman Returns." This happened when the John Tuturro character stripped down to his singlet with a logo in front like the Superman insignia.

I know for many fans Bay better not even come close to a Superman film, but I for one would be very excited. At least he would make Superman look good, and at this point that's what I want, hopefully with a decent script.

He certainly fits the 'director' Millar has been referring to.

:cmad: NO, please, God, nooooooooooo! WB, DC, keep Bay away from Supes! Superman deserves better than that.

I would have loved to see a Michael Bay directed Superman film but I know I'm probably in the minority.

I HOPE SO!

I STRONGLY disagree. I'm sure there are other directors much more capable than them. Plus, what has Abrams done for you to say that?

Michael Bay would of delivered one of the most enjoyable Superhero movies ever if he made a Superman movie.

Yuck. Keep Michael Bay away from any film that requires even the most minimal emotional resonance.

Saint, where is that avatar from? Looks like Bermejo's work.
