I don't dislike Snyder, but I'm not sure he would be the right guy for Superman.
IMO, 300 was highly overrated! I liked it sure, but it was not "great" like so many people claimed it to be.
I haven't seen Watchmen so I could say one way or the other about its quality, but it doesn't really strike me as anything special at the moment. I did like the newest trailer though.
Still, I think many posters make some very valid points about Snyder. He seems to go overboard with the slow-motion. He isn't really original and seems content on just putting the source material on film page for page, insteading of doing his own thing. Plus I think Superman just isn't dark enough for him and if he did do it, I'm afraid of what he would do.
He just seems altogether wrong for Superman. Just the fact that he isn't enthused about making a Superman film is the biggest reason why he should not take the helm. We need someone who would put there heart in it and cares about the character.
Here is the thing about Zack. I believe he stated that Superman is a difficult character to take on because it would be difficult to make his boy scout status relevant in this day and age.
Robinov said WB's is willing to let the comic film properties stories go as dark as they can. I don't necessarily think that the next Superman film will show Superman to be dark and depressing the whole time..but that some of the story and settings, along with the the villains will be darker and a bit more complex.
To me it seems like Zack doesn't want to make a goody two shoes underwhelming Superman film....he wants to make something that will be a fun, yet visually stunning and complex film that has great action with some dark themes and elements. I applaud for him that.
Why does a Superman film have to be so one dimensional with some of you?[/quote]
That first sentence is exactly why he doesn't need to touch Superman.
And making Superman clean-cut and a "boy-scout" doesn't mean the film would be underwelming. Take a look at the Spider-Man films.
There is nothing one-demensional with Superman that many of us are posting. It is simply a case of not comprimising the Superman character that has existed for 70 years.
Why does more lighthearted than TDK mean one dimensional to some of you?
I have the visual template for My Little Superman

I think he was referring to a general consensus that anything dark is cancer for Superman. Which is faulty logic (not to mention unfounded, since Superman comics at least before IC were not exactly pre-school reading material).

I find it hard to believe that at this point, WB's would want to compromise the Superman characters films anymore than they already have. If they have that in mind, then they better not even bother making another film. LOL
i know what you think about green screen. we already talked about it. and i agree with you. superman and more greenscren and we have a winner.Thank you green screen.

200 milions was way to much for superman. what happened happened. we are where were. lets hope they wont make the same mistakes again.
just because i have time:Yeah, there was certainly no bang for the 200 million buck of a budget, thats for sure.
Someone like Zack Snyder will get you that "bang for the buck."

It's because Snyder is a studio guy, just like Micheal Bay. He is hot property right now.
I perfer reality to all greenscreen movies so... hell no!
depends on the movie. a hardcore realistic enviorment with a realistic feel like TDK doesnt need greenscreen.I perfer reality to all greenscreen movies so... hell no!
I don't think it depends on the movie, I just plain don't perfer all greenscreen movies. Using green screen is fine but using only green screen isn't perfered by myself. That being said Watchmen still looks pretty awesome.depends on the movie. a hardcore realistic enviorment with a realistic feel like TDK doesnt need greenscreen.
a metropolis and feel lik in SR and greenscreen can be a good thing. plus cheaper.
all greenscree? i was not talking about that.I don't think it depends on the movie, I just plain don't perfer all greenscreen movies. Using green screen is fine but using only green screen isn't perfered by myself. That being said Watchmen still looks pretty awesome.
Also I'd perfer if neither of those gentlemen get the job. If they do, I'm going to have to find another forum to frequent. Hell, If they keep Routh I'm not going to be posting as much.

Alright, no problem.all greenscree? i was not talking about that.
just using more green screen
Because he made 300, Watchmen, and Dawn of the Dead.I dont understand why ppl try to label Snyder this way. Just because he made 300 and Watchmen?
Yes he is. But he's still wrong for Superman. He's the type of director that should have made V for Vendetta and be on board for the Ronin adaptation.First of all, Snyder is a DIRECTOR. And a pretty good one.
Yes it is much more difficult to put a story that is already made and make it almost exactly like it than having an original story and deciding to use which elements for itBesides, sorry for everyone who desagree, but adapt Watchmen is much more difficult than Superman.
.Those of you who don't think Snyder would make a visually epic Superman film that would make a nice profit....are not thinking straight.
