i dont start threads( usually cause i aint sure if there another one floating around).. but I'm starting this i looooooveeeee Doom Patrol. collected all their incarnations. They are without a doubt my favorite DC Superteam! My favorite was the run with Morrison and the last two blew chunks, especially the John Bryne one. I picked up the new Red Robin issue with a preview of the new DP in august and this looks like a good one. Totally am digging the new Character Dusty with Elastic Girl, Robotman, Negative. Grunt and Nudge still have to grow on me. I wished they would have used Crazy Jane from Morrison run( a freakin great character) , but hey Beggars cant be choosy. The art in the new one looks good and it looks like they are still going the strange cases
that the other superheroes cant handle sooooo....
LONG LIVE THE PATROL!!!

i herd theres alot of similarities between this and X-men...

yeah Ipod there are some big similarities between Xmen and the original DP series. Both had a wheelchair bound leader , people distrusted them and DP debuted 3 months before X-men did. i found this quote from the original writer of the series Arnold Drake
“ ...I’ve become more and more convinced that Stan Leeknowingly stole The X-Men from The Doom Patrol. Over the years I learned that an awful lot of writers and artists were working surreptitiously between [Marvel and DC]. Therefore from when I first brought the idea into [DC editor] Murray Boltinoff’s office, it would’ve been easy for someone to walk over and hear that [I was] working on a story about a bunch of reluctant superheroes who are led by a man in a wheelchair. So over the years I began to feel that Stan had more lead time than I realized. He may well have had four, five or even six months"

hmmmm makes you wonder dont it.

this has a very oldschool look to it, which for me is a good thing, happy to have doom patrol back in a monthly title, especially when i just started picking up single issues again.

OH baby!
[BLACKOUT] right out that gate and Nudge gets whacked and the others are like "Tough" beans.Taking off and just Leaving Grunt the Ape behind ( i see the makings of a Villain with an axe to grind )and "just saying it comes with the territory when you are on a team called "doom Patrol". Coolio!! i wasnt really digging those two as awesome characters anyway but i didnt expect that. And they got a villain who's a blackhole who wants negotiate terms. Negative-man being diagnosed with peter pan syndrome?!?!? Hell yeah![/BLACKOUT] Damn! when did Elasti-woman get cool.Oh yeah! this is a book i can get into. I don't like my Heroes killing people anymore , but i do love em when they got Jacked up mental issues going on.I can see it now.... DP Cartoon, DP Lunchboxes, DP Action figures , DP Block buster movie.. Heh i am getting ahead of myself.
I have been missing some DP it's about Damn time!

Definitely digging it. I hear good things about Morrison's DP and I want to catch up on that if only for the talking street. This already has the makings of a cool comic

I enjoyed it quite a bit, I've only read bits and pieces of the the other series, but I still liked this. The Metal Men back-up was really good too

Yeah bro i highly recommend it, The scissor men, the brotherhood of DADA. the painting that ate paris.it Made me like Morrison's work before JLA
The Metal Men back-up was really good too
yeah that was good too i was surprised, considering I didnt like their last series.but that was cool too.

This is how you make a 3.99 comic worth buying. Well, besides putting J.H. Williams on art duties.

Morrison's Doom Patrol is what got me into comics so I've been fans of them ever since. And, the end when they said that [BLACKOUT]the black hole was ready to negotiate terms [/BLACKOUT]I knew I was on for the long haul.

Besides, the back-up was worth the 3.99. Its way more enjoyable that a lot of normal books out there.

Also, I don't think that this is the last we heard of Nudge and Grunt. I have a feeling that they are going to form the New Brotherhood of Evil, replacing the Brain and Monsieur Mallah

yeah Man ! I totally agree
at first i was thinking maybe i am digging this book cause it 's been awhile since i read a DP book, so i had to read it again just to make sure and for a 1st issue it was good. totally worth the bucks i spent on it.

Noticed that issue eight went down to $2.99 and there's no mention of the Metal Men in the solicit. I guess that means they'll be dropping the co-feature. Disappointing, as I was enjoying it very much

They can't drop Metal Men it's literally perfect.

They're dropping or changing pretty much all of the co-features, it seems. Kind of lame.

I'm cool with dropped co-features as long as that extra dollar is dropped too.

In this case, they should've dropped the main feature and kept Metal Men.

What kind of people call themselves "The Brotherhood of Evil"? Not this group; not if a certain pan-dimensional business tycoon has anything to say about it. After all, image is everything. But it doesn't matter how they rebrand themselves - the Doom Patrol has found them, and it's not going to be pretty.

Thanks to morg to pointing this thread out to me. I thought the newest issue was interesting although it seems to not be related to the previous which was, confusing.

It was a good issue but I want them to get back to Mr Nobody (or Mr Somebody if that's what he changed his codename to).

I liked that they did an issue focusing on Rita, I know the least about her as I really only know Doom Patrol from Morrisons series and she was dead at the time. But I really felt sorry for Mento - I don't know if that was the intent. But he doesn't seem like a bad guy at all.
