This has been one of the best games I've played since Witcher 3. Engrossed.

I remember after GoW3, I did say I would love, somehow, for Kratos to end up fighting the Norse gods. And boy, when they annouced it, super excited

The gameplay was satisfying, the characters spot on, the locations incredible. Just an all round great experience.

    Some things though:

I need to know the following. And whilst it may not be vital, I would love to just hear the answers:

    - How did Kratos survive that stab from Athena? By all accounts, he was dead.

    - What brought him to the Norse realm? Did he travel? Or did Athena maybe send him?

    - Do the Norse gods have a beef with the greeks? Are they aware that they had fallen? Do they want to stop Kratos now more than ever because of who he is, after he killed Baldur and one of Thors sons? Do they fear now that HE will bring Ragnorok?

So many questions that I hope the next games truly delve in to.

I love this game. It didnt grab me at first and found it hard but its clicking now. I cant even remember when that happened. The story is amazing and has me very intriguied to keep playing and find out more. I am at the part where
you escape Helheim and are underneath the portal place in Midgard
. Im guessing Im near the end? My level is only 4 which seems rather low but Im prioritizing finishing up the main quest so I can finally join in on the conversations

Did he not play through it? It’s hard to imagine any gamer sticking with this and not liking it. I didn’t care for it at first but it eventually clicked with me. I definitely understand the GotY talk now

With the recent talks about a PS5 in or before 2021, the chances for a GoW sequel in the PS4 are even smaller. Keep your expectations low, guys.

I have 0 hopes to see the sequel with the current generation. Horizon ZD has bigger chances, though, but I'm not counting it being realesed on the PS4 either.

I'm at level 6, near 7, but I'm REALLY taking my time with this game. I'm exploring everything before finishing the main story (tasks and side quests). That allows me to discover new and powerful gear as I go so I can equip them before a new main mission. The progress feels more fun this way and the journey more satisfying.

I also found 4 of the "Infinity Stones" of the game, along with the Gauntlet. Can't wait to test its power.

he is more of a Call of Duty/Battlefield kind of guy than games like GOW, so his loss, my gain :).

I'm not in a hurry. If they need 3 or 4 years to make a game that is at least as good as this one, then so be it.
I want them to take their time like they did with this one.

Just beat the game and pretty shocked with that ending.
Kind of bold to not fall into the videogame trope of having a final boss. Kratos had a mission and he fufilled it.
. I have to say this is definitely a strong GoTY contender. Its near perfect. I dont have any faults with it at all. Barlog has redeem the series. I thought the first game was the best with it going downhill with each game, but this is by far the best. Absolutely love it. 10/10 and I dont say that too often. That twist with Atreus was so good and he is arguably the best new Sony character of this gen. Yes, I say even rivaling Aloy

Ive read some criticism of having extra realms in there that you never have to access for the story, but I just look as those two as material that could have easily been DLC thats included from the start. Id be interested in seeing actual DLC though that maybe adds more favors and missions to do around the worlds.

    ETA:

Oh best moment of the game was definitely when
you get the Blades of Chaos back.
It was an "Oh sh-t!" moment bc I did not see that coming

I just finished it and got the Platinum trophy at the same time.
I figured it was the masterpiece that people talk about before I was halfway through. Having seen its true ending [blackout](with Thor)[/blackout] made me even more sure of it.

I hope the next game wraps up this mythology, though. I don't think we need a trilogy for this. We can have [blackout]Thor, Odin and the Ragnarok[/blackout] by the next game.

[BLACKOUT]I dont think Ragnarok will be the next game. I think Freya will be the main villian and it will focus on her trying to get revenge on Kratos. Ragnarok may be the end of the trilogy[/BLACKOUT]

I don't want a movie of something that's already so cinematic.
If they REALLY want to push a trilogy, then I can see that, but we saw that [blackout]Ragnarok was sped up a lot by the death of Baldur so it will happen sooner than expected.[/blackout] And I don't want them restraining themselves too much. They should do as much as they can. I was surprised we didn't get to [blackout]fight at least Thor, in this game. If the next one isn't closing this, I think he should be the main or one of the main villains. We definetely should close the book on him.[/blackout]

[BLACKOUT]Ragnarok is happening earlier, but its still years away. At least 3 based on what Mimir said. There's plenty of time to tell a story in between that gap. Ragnarok is supposed to signal the destruction of the world and the gods. It should be epic and it seems like a waste to have that be the middle of the trilogy[/BLACKOUT]

There are rumors that they planned 5 games. It doesn't necessarily need to be a trilogy just for the norse myths. Could be 2 for norse, 2 for egypt, 1 for shinto, maybe.
I just don't want them restraining themselves on content and story because of a need to make this a trilogy. They don't need to rush it, either. But the ground has been laid and the lore, established. They can go much deeper, now.

They already planned out the next 5 games and it is already confirmed this is a trilogy. They know what they are doing. Also I expect the worlds to start bleeding together. Especially with getting those Tyr hints.

Not a rumor. Cory said it.

I have a question... does anyone else think Tyr is actually Kratos?

    I'd be fine with that.
Funny how Kratos said that fate is another lie told by the gods, but he followed it to a tee with Atreus.
Do we have any quotes from him about a trilogy just for norse?
Maybe he wasn't being literal about actually doing it. Just that it was mapped in his head.
He did say after that "ok. to be honest, 5 games would literally kill me. you can rest assured the reality is going to be more measured than the speculation in the @kotaku discussion."

    https://kotaku.com/why-god-of-war-took-five-years-to-make-1825653009

This is what he said to Kotaku:

If you listen to the podcast, you will hear him talking about the original intent for the game, and how it did revolve around the most obvious characters. I think it is important to note that he mentions 5 games, while also taking about series in a trilogy format and the obvious hints laid out by the Jontar's, who can apparently see into the future. It makes the most sense when you consider Freya's status at the end of the first game. There are three major figures setup for the future. Odin, Freya and Thor. We also get the talk of Thor's mysterious daughter, that is abruptly cut off, on purpose of course.

Considering the amount of Aseir and Vanir left, I doubt there will be only one game left for this mythology. Njordr and Freyr are still alive apparently. Sif hasn't been introduced.

So you are right, it is all speculation on a bit of what Cory said. But I don't think they are wrapping all that up in 2 games. Not after establishing two pantheons of gods.

Just bc he has mapped out 5 games, doesnt mean we will see 5 games. I doubt we will for a variety of reasons

Im with DarthSkywalker though in that there will definitely be at least 3 dealing with Norse mythology. One thing I noticed with this game was how much restraint they showed as they skipped over alot of gods and figures. It would be a waste to build up this world and[BLACKOUT] destroy it next game with Ragnarok and move on[/BLACKOUT]
