I must say i am NOT happy with this choice either.
1. He looks by face alot like goku.
2. has NO physcial qulaties of goku.
3. Doesnt even have a strong Presence
4. Knows NO martial arts

2-4 make him a horrible choice for this role. I honestly dont know what the hell they were thinking when they chose him. The only thing he has going for him is his face and hes not a bad actor. but not a great one either.
He better gain like 30 lbs of muscle or this movie is toast........lets all pray

I loved the matrix but they were not portraying characters that already exist. Goko already has a style! now this kids gota fight and look like him. hows he going to look the part of a person who trains and god knows how many times gravity. Hes supposed to be jacked!

Early, young Goku isn't "jacked". Watch the Raditz "saga" (it's not an official saga, but anyway)...watch anything pre-King Kai; Goku isn't super buff. He becomes a huge muscle man after his training on King Kai's planet. He explodes in strength and size while training in the ship at 100x gravity.

This is (in my mind) probably around the same time when in Dragonball Goku was an 'adult', when he re-met Chi Chi at the tournament...

aka--> he wasn't all that buff. and he hadn't trained in the gravity chamber...

Yup. I think some of the charm of early Goku is the fact that he was exceptionally strong but didn't look it. That's what's going to be so cool about watching it.

hmm... it ales me to say this but you are correct. i am wrong. He wasnt Jacked. Muscular but not huge. I guess he could pull it off. Its the rest of the movie im worried about lol

If the movie is a success is some way, shape, or form and gets a sequel, then Chatwin will grow into the role (both in age and in strength). I'm not worried about his "look" just yet.

no matter how you guys try to spin it, even if you pull out the faithful card and say that Chatwin actually looks more like teen Goku since he doesn't have muscle, it still doesn't cover up that Chatwin doesn't look like a person who has been training in martial arts for even a few years. even though Goku might not have been ripped or cut in his younger years he never looked like a wimp. on the other hand, it almost looks like a 4th grader with a couple years training would be able to take Justin.

meh, movie magic ? I'm not trying to be Pro-Chatwin here but I still think we should reserve judgement ... until we see an actual image/trailer that we can actually judge from, instead of pics of Chatwin from awhile back...

I agree with Star. Everyone's complaining about Chatwin and all we have are a few pics taken on the set months ago and off the set about 1 month ago. Wait for the trailer, it could be tonight with the SCC finale

No matter what anyone says, I've had faith in Chatwin since day one. When the movie is released, I hope I'm proven right.

If I'm wrong, maybe Fox will see they were wrong too and hire someone else for the sequel. It would make sense, since Dragonball Z takes place some time after Dragonball.
